Love how every few months Lazy’s just like “fuck it here’s some more insanity from Japan.”

I remember my mom and I hearing about the Man from Taured years ago and she looked at me and said. "Probably some con man whackadoo"
RIP Mom! You were right!

Nice to see Lazy do a bit of research and tell the actual story of Zegrus, since most people only know the hoax version. I learned about it a couple of years ago, it was actually the first time i ever heard about this urban legend.

'The Man from Taured' being revealed as a con-man is so wonderfully banal and I love it

Thank you for covering The Man from Taured. I can't tell you how many other channels have covered the story as a true life mystery. I heard the story came from a short story in some newspaper in the early 1900's.

The last one has two possibilities:

1) Somebody was testing out the extent of their superpowers

or

2) Some guy walked off in shock and died somewhere, with his body just not having been found yet

Lazy has such a listenable voice that even the horrific and bizarre is easy to listen to.

The first case is so bizarre. I don’t understand how anyone could live with the smell of a decomposing corpse in the house. Even if it already smelled bad, the smell of a rotting body is beyond bad, and it’s very recognizable. I don’t understand how it’s possible that they didn’t know he was there.

In the last story, it's pretty clear the fence itself cushioned his impact. The fact that parts were bent is an indication that force was dissipated by deformation -- like crumple zones in cars are designed to do. While he probably experienced a force in the tens of Gs, it wouldn't be enough to fatally injure him.

Just some quick math, and apologies if I'm way off, but to decelerate from 100km/h (27.78m/s) to zero over a distance of 0.5m would take 0.036 seconds. The G-force experienced in that time would be 78.6g. The highest G-force anyone has ever survived was 360g.

I did some digging into "Taured" some time ago after becoming interested in The Man from Taured, and the only thing of interest that I discovered was that there was a town called Taured near the Baltic Sea that was destroyed by avalanche hundreds of years ago. My memory is a bit fuzzy on it though.

Thank you Lazy for the new upload. I just lost my big brother on the 25th oh June and I’ve been grieving hard. He listened to your channel as well and we’d always talk about it. R.I.P Jer. I love you

Walking off without a hint of pain isn't that unusual. Pain often kicks in only after the shock is gone.
Also, bending metal isn't that hard in many cases. It really depends on the quality of the steel and its heattreatment.

Seeing a Lazy video fresh out of the oven reminds me the years I've listened to him. I started following lazy when I was a HS junior, and now a full on CS engineer with a degree, graduated 2 years ago and working a pretty sweet job. Keep up the good works, Lazy! Been a long ride, my man

That Sogen Kato story deserves its own video. The number of cases they discovered where people had been dead for decades yet still reported as being alive was insane.

Honestly it seems that Japan is some kind of Ground Zero for real life horror with a touch of the bizarre. I also happen to be currently reading some Japanese horror/true crime stuff so I *could* be a tad biased though.

Also is it bad that I burst out laughing at the mental image of some guy jumping out of a high-speed train, slamming into a fence, and then just super-casually trotting off to some meeting…

Heard the 'Man from Taured' one before, conspiracy type channels ( coverups, ufos, time slips, etc ) love to go on about this story. Always figured it was just a very convincing con or just something that'd been told on the internet so many times people believed it was real even if it didn't exist off the internet.

I think the case of Sumio is a combination of theory A and B. Sumio was in his 60s, I think he died of natural causes but as the family were already living on a low income, his siblings decided to keep his death a secret so they could keep recieving his pension. They shut up his room and lived with the smell which wasn't as difficult for them as it would be for many people because they were hoarders and already used to living with bad smells. I have no evidence to prove this except that I don't think the siblings would have come forward at all if they'd actually murdered him.

I love the story of the man from Taured. It's such a thrilling concept, if nothing else.

I can’t be the only one who remembers the Taured story being told not as a urban legend but as an actual unexplained happening that could be an example of time travel/multiple universes. Like I’ve been on the horror/mystery/conspiracy side of the internet for a long time and I genuinely remember the Taured story being lumped in with true unexplained stories. I want to maybe chalk this up to my naive child self believing a fictional story because I was young, which I definitely did, but I am almost certain that I have only heard the whole Taured story within the context of it being a completely real case, unexplained supernatural and all.

Please understand that Imoto and Ototo are not their names, it just means younger sister and younger brother.
