A young couple wanted to change a 1960s bungalow into their dream house near York, Yorkshire, but once they move into the bungalow they find it will be cheaper to start a new build. So they sell the bungalow and rent it back to live in while they build a new house on the 2 acre sub divided lot. They have a £400,000 budget and they finish the home in 7 months.

I actually love the house, however, I found the couple mildly irritating. The uncut bolts were an accident waiting to happen. Surprisingly enough, the husband had realized this and decided he liked the aesthetics of demonstrating the true construction process over safety. Early on the wife had complained about the husband over spending on a previous build to the point that they had no money to furnish the home. So what does she do? Spend $4, 000 on a brick wall when she knew they were running short on funds AND a bespoke painting! Short on funds but they need triple glazed windows. Not a problem. We will have our parents fund our build and irresponsible spending habits. Is it really surprising the bank turned down their loan?

Kay's revenge war against Martin has very clearly turned a worldclass architecture and most daringly innovative idea of a house into an absolute shitshow when it comes to how she did the kitchen and the overall interior of the house which could have been in magazines had she rained in her zealousness of trying to pull her husband down. Sad!

Nice place except for exposed bolts ready to lacerate young shins, but hey - what's a little kid's few stitches compared to the industrial integrity of an architect's concept? I never understood the unboxed-in bathtubs that require inside plus also outside all around cleaning. Same with the sinks.

The house was interesting. The people in it, are more interesting. I feel like the mom wants more out of life, and should pursue her own business and interests away from ALL the direct care of children and home. On the flip side, dad should do more at home and adult up, so mom doesn’t feel all the pressure to be the one adult in the room.

What a sad couple. She compains that he overspends yet she spends money on ab unnecessary wall and winged the drawing of the kitchen. He clearly doesnt care about his wifes feelings as he just marches ahead and makes decisions without consulting her. They really do not suit as a couple at all. Very average looking house, doesnt have a feeling of a home at all

The kitchen design is very poor, where is the fridge? It must be up the end of the kitchen way out of the way of the sink, stove, bench. Kitchen design 101 should all be in a triangle.
