As a dentist, I can back up what he says. Macroglossia (oversized tongue) is not only a sign of possible low thyroid function but also raises the risk for sleep apnea.

I have both geographic tongue and a minor fissured tongue. My orthodontists and dentists always love it. Truly a show stopper.

“This is totally normal” *proceeds to say that it could be a viral infection*

Geographic tongue seems like it would give you the ability to harness the oceans energy or some shit like that, it’s actually really dope looking.

The fissured tongue gave me goosebumps all over. It looks so disturbing and painful 😓

My grandma has a fissured tongue and I was always interested in it. I used to think she ate something sharp when I was little. It’s so interesting!

My tongue is entirely normal except it’s way too long for my mouth and has effected my tooth development a bit

Survivor of Kawasaki disease here. Thanks for talking about it. I had it when I was young and many hospitals didn’t know what I had, but a nurse was able to recognize it. Doctor said if it would’ve taken longer to recognize I wouldn’t have made it. Glad you talked about it 🤎

Okay so as some one who has fissured tongue i want to clear some things out cuz all of yall comments saying its gross make me really Insecure cuz hello i cant change my tongue
1. Its genetic. My dad has it and I am the only one of my siblings who does also
2. Its not painfull
3. It only looks bad when you stretch it like in the picture. When you stick it out it looks almost normal
4. It doesnt affect kissing. All of my partners said they cant feel a difference.
5. Since the inside of the tongue is more exposed spicy food feels way worse for me. Even mild chili chips can sting.
6. Food doesnt get stuck inside

My tongue used to have build up, I’d brush and brush and never knew why. I was a smoker, I had quit a year ago. Ever since I quit, I haven’t had the build up caused by nicotine

And creamy white patches is a sign that you should probably spit and not swallow next time.

Fun fact: thrush = yeast infection (yes the same kind you get in the crotch) it’s usually a sign of too much sugar (high blood sugar and commonly found in T2D), not enough good bacteria, or lack of good hygiene

I have geographic tongue & I remember going in to see a doctor many years ago bcuz I didn't feel well. That doctor got soooo excited & explained all about geographic tongue & that it's kinda rare but it's not a health issue. He told me that it can be caused bcuz of some virus that you had in the past but he said, back then, that there was not much known about it. I was relieved bcuz a couple weeks before that, my dentist was concerned & had no idea what it was. That was a relief. 👍✌😂

As someone who has thrush issues, it starts when your younger. It is usually signs of slight lactose intolerance and you should use tongue scrappers nightly. Thrush doesn’t usually effect you seriously it just makes me kind of sick but that’s rare. I would recommend seeing a doctor either way.

I have a geographic tongue and yes, it is normal but the more pink spots on the tongue do tend to be more sensitive to spices or sourness!

this is the first video that I see of someone talking about the Kawasaki syndrome, my sister had it and I was so glad that the med could notice what it was, because we were going hospital to hospital and no one knew what was it.
so I'm happy to see that is in this video, so people can notice it before being too late <3
sorry for the bad english, I'm argentinian sjsj
