Another video from a different world!
This time with less depressing landscapes due to the fallen snow ☺❄

upd: 2:34 — it should be "3 days", not "3 months"
upd 2: someone in the comments said #freevalerka 😂

"They want to blow up the Soviet Union, they want to take it to themselves"

These people are literally stuck in time.

It seems that the Russians who are most enthusiastic about the war are those who don't have to fight in it.

You can tell how frightened and suspicious these people are. They don't know if it's an agent of the government or a random person interviewing. They know they are supposed to support the operation, so they either say the line or say nothing at all. Some of course fully believe in the government and the cause. This is true in any nation, but I think this video is very telling.

Last women were very surprised about Kherson retreat. Just imagine how she would be shocked if somebody will tell her soviet union stopped to exist 30 years ago.

Probably some of the most important historical work being done here. Future (and modern) historians will thank you for these invaluable interviews.

if you want to have better interactions with people;
1. approach them with the camera facing down,
2. speak to them
3. as they are responding ask them if its okay to film them while raising the camera

you notice even in this video, you received a very open and sincere response from someone who did not have the camera facing them.

you have a youtube channel, so your allegiance is to your youtube audience. however, if you can make people feel comfortable, they will be more willing to share themselves in greater depth. Approaching a person with a camera facing them while asking them questions will make people feel uncomfortable in every country.

The older man at the last interview, you can see it in his face and his reaction, he knows what’s going on…

And how they want to know your name just to snitch you to officials…

Stay brave.

I have spent a couple of weeks in a few very remote places in the far east of Russia, and it became immediately obvious how isolated these communities can be. As a European, the sheer solitude of these places is hard to grasp. One of them, for example, was the Kuril islands which extend towards Japan, and Moscow actually has to pay the residents to prevent them from abandoning these forsaken rocks. Just mentioning to someone where I came from was enough to have crowds gather around me in the street, especially from younger people who wish for a better place to live but can't afford to move any of the larger cities or have to care for their relatives, as westerners are seen as sort of mythical creatures who everybody heard of, but nobody actually has ever met. The only connection they have to something resembling civilization is state media, and I honestly can't feel any anger towards these people, as they lack the information necessary to form any reasonable opinion. Barely anyone speaks English, which makes it even harder for them to connect to the rest of the world. All I feel for them is pity. A lot of them are good and honest people who care for their loved ones and their country, while their leaders deceive them and make them send their sons and brothers to the slaughter.

I am old. I grew up in the US where Ukraine was called "the Ukraine", a region of the USSR. But then the USSR disappeared and several other countries were born. One of them was Ukraine. I get the feeling that a lot of people in Russia still think former Soviet countries still belong to Russia and it is okay to punish them if they don't do what Russia wants.

Russia will be facing some hard times in the future but I don't know how much the people in these areas will notice because they are already in a situation of despair.

You deserve far more money than some notable "creators" out there. This is real content. This shit has me thinking and feeling. Like a movie.

Ohmalawd...who's gonna explain to that lady that Soviet Union collapsed over 30 years ago and has been capitalist economy since? She's gonna be furious when she hears.

Hey man… some people get pretty upset about the questions you ask… stay safe. It’s great to learn how different people think, but not at the expense of your safety. With that said, thanks for making these videos. They’re interesting and educational.

If you asked a rural American during the Vietnam or Afghanistan conflicts it would be exactly the same.

The drunk man is actually the Russian Minister of Health. Either that, or the guy in charge of checking the safety of windows to make sure gas oligarchs can’t fall out.
