I love the contrast between them here. Fire v Water. Screaming v crying. Vengenace v enlightment.

Lets be real. Natalie Portman deserves to be nominated for an Oscar but Hugo Weaving deserved to win one. He managed to give a performance WITHOUT using his eyes and facial features.

V was reborn in pain and burning and fire and hatred. Evey was reborn in pain and cleansing and water and hope. Not all pain is the same, but if you can bear it’s torment, all pain can make you stronger.

Hands down one of the best moments in cinema history. Incredibly powerful.

Hugo behind a mask conveying pure human emotion and Natalie’s acting like she was in genuine distress just makes me love this rebirth scene. She was V and V was she.

There are speeches and there ARE speeches...this is the latter.

The way he says “That’s it!!!” *Goosebumps*

“I can’t feel anything anymore!” That together with her breathing, damn so good…you can feel it. Excellent, and also hits hard.

This scene took the move to a higher level than its political message...it shows that freedom is not breaking away from an oppressive government but it is something else entirely..it is a sheding of of all fear..then, and only then, will one be truly free!!!

I love this movie scene. I understand what it represents in this film, Evie having freedom and sticking up for her beliefs with no fear and ethereal freedom inside of herself. But for my own life, I see this scene as going through the ugliness in our lives and coming out invincible and experiencing such resilience that nothing can hurt us, we are above it all. I can only hope that I can acheive Evie's level of freedom in my life. I believe one day it will be mine. I pray that one day we all can have that and make this world a better place.

As someone who’s faced their own death, this scene makes me cry my eyes out. This movie was phenomenal and this scene was perfect. Everyone who worked on this movie deserves an Oscar

Evey’s arms outstretched in a ‘V’ shape symbolism. This movie gets better every time I watch it. Evey....EV=5th letter from beginning of alphabet and 5th letter from the end, the number 5 is V in Roman numerals . V’s throwing knives in a v formation, fireworks at the end in a v formation.

The Rage and Serenity, both equally liberating.

the difference is in how they welcomed the wider world. V saw freedom as fire and vengeance. Evie saw freedom as a gift, divinity in every single moment. There is a reason he wanted her to serve as his successor.

“V: That's it! See, at first I thought it was hate too. Hate was all I knew, it built my world, it imprisoned me, taught me how to eat, how to drink, how to breathe... I thought I'd die with all my hate in my veins. But then something happened. It happened to me... Just as it happened to you..
Evey: Shut up! I don't want to hear your lies!
V: Your own father said that artists use lies to tell the truth. Yes.. I created a lie, but because you believed it, you found something true about yourself.„
~ V and Evey

Took me decades to understand why a fall is required to rise to new heights. Kill your paradigms, be free
