Edessa mean ''tower in water'' The name of the city until 1923 was Vodina from the Slavic word for water
The waterfalls were formed in 14th century after strong earthquake. The park of waterfalls is the most famous attraction of the city and the higher waterfall is 70 meters and called Karanos.
