New Bacon Avocado & Papaya Trees

In this video, I show you two new trees that are hard to source in the UK that I recently bought. The first is a papaya tree, which I've failed to grow from seed many times over the years, and the other is a grafted Bacon avocado, a fairly cold hardy variety of avocado.

Both look great!
I reckon that the trunk remains green on avocados to absorb rare sunlight when its small and in an understory position and only when its tall enough to recieve direct sunlight through its leaves will the trunk harden off and then turn brown.

Great additions Peter 👍🏾 regarding the Papaya, they do like a good watering but not too frequent. I usually give mine a good watering and then only water again once I feel the pot is lighter when I lift it. (Just a tip) 😊

I think that the bacon avocado tree will have a cold resistance equivalent to that of most citrus trees. If so, I can grow it here in the northern interior of Portugal without any problems. I already have a fuerte and a hass, and the fuerte is more resistant to low temperatures than the hass. Next year I will probably also buy some bacon to keep the fuerte and hass company.
