Solving Equations with Logarithms Pt 3

In a three part video I do many examples of solving equations using logarithms to move the variable out of the exponent. In part three I do examples with the log function on both sides of the equation.

Here are my other PreCalculus lessons involving Logarithms

as a community college student taking intermediate algebra for the 3rd semester, I really really appreciate your examples and taking the time to videotape them for others to benefit from. I clearly understand your examples because you take the time to explain as you go. This is more helpful than Khan. Thank you! God Bless!

I have a couple friends taking the class with me who are paying private tutor 20.00 per hour and I can guarantee they are not getting stuff laid out so clearly. Having a learning disability and really struggling with math, I can't thank you enough!! Keep them coming!

Professor, I enjoy the way you teach Logarithms. They are solved in a few steps, but with your explanations it helps to retain the information.

Ok, here's my report. After watching the 3 parts I was able to do all log and exponential equations exercises of my college textbook successfully, using just the explanations given by you. One great thing you did was to emphasize over and over the habit of plugging the solutions back into the original equation to see if the results work. This helped me get the right answer consistently. A curious thing I found was that factoring wasn't always simple at the end and I had to resort to the quadratic formula to find some of the solutions. Finally, the explanation on your videos was enough to help me figure out how to solve equations that have unknown exponents on BOTH sides of the equation, which was a surprise for me (Ex. 3^1-2x = 4^x  got solved by a combination of rewriting everything as a log, using the power of a log property and change of base formula) but BAMMM, killed them. Thank you so much, Mr. Tarrou! I doubt I'd be able to do this without your help!

Fantastic, easy-to-follow explanations. So much better than staring for hours at a textbook but not absorbing anything. Thanks very much!

Now let's work on that legend part by making sure all of Australia hears about and knows where to find Tarrou's Chalk Talk! Whatever it takes...call the paper, the TV, post it on Facebook, Twitter, make a BAM!!! video that goes viral...shout it so they hear about it worldwide...lol
In all sincerity...thanks again for your support, students like you are the spark that keeps the passion ignited!

Professor RobBob, thank you for another solid analysis on Solving Equations with Logarithms Part Three. These topics will only help students moving on to Calculus One, Two, Three, Differential Equations and Advanced courses in Math and Science.

From someone who tries to learn everything ahead of the class (that way you already understand the information and it becomes easier to do the work, giving you better grades) thank you.

You're welcome...thanks for watching! I was going to build a website over the summer but chose to add to my Calculus library since I will be teaching it this school year. My channel homepage has all my individual playlists listed and you should be able to keyword just about anything I have videos for and find out where to go:)

Thank you for watching. I included examples representative of the problems from the book I am teaching from. I am currently working on videos that will help my current students in their upcoming school year.
