Hi,

Shopify is certainly good, but you did not say that large expenses are spent on advertising through Facebook, Google - which eat up almost all the profits. Etsy doesn't have to spend on ads and that's a big advantage!

Great video, but have to disagree with a main point mentioned about Etsy --- they have changed their definition of "handmade" so much, that the silk-screening example Would be allowed. They even allow someone's IDEA to be mass-produced in small factory-type scenarios and call it Handmade. As a Seller with 2 shops on etsy for over 10 years, ask me how I The original concept of a marketplace for Artisans is long gone. Moving to Shopify as we speak.

Since shopify reveals my home address and I have to apply for and set up the sales taxes myself ...Etsy is worth the extra fees in my opinion

Your math is stupid. If i sell 100 product over a 4 month span, then Shopify fees $29 * 4 = $116. So im left with $641 - $116 = $525. Etsy would still = $580 in profit since their listing fee last 4 month. You skewed the math to favor Shopify on ur time frame. Smh 🤦. Ur math only works when you start moving volume. But in reality most people will never start out moving volumes

I don't understand why there are so many comparisons between Etsy and Shopify. Etsy is a market/selling platform. Shopify is basically a website builder and hosting service. They are not the same. It would seem to make more sense for videos to compare Etsy to Amazon and Shopify to like Wix or something. How does anyone actually classify Shopify as an "ecommerce platform"?
