Hand reared young elephants released back into wild

Wildlife conservationists in Zimbabwe have successfully relocated six orphaned elephants back to the wild, an important step in protecting Africa’s dwindling elephant population.

I feel sad when I see wildlives like elephants, giraffes and leopards. They are a vivid reminder of how my homeland - Somalia - lost them to conflict and wars. These wonderful wildlives moved to Kenya.

Especially giraffes is the one I am most saddened about since we Somalis centuries ago introduced them to some parts of the word. The Somali word for giraffe (geri) is still what Chinese, Japanese and Koreans call it to this day because Somali people introduced the giraffes to these communities.
