Everybody has their favorite hiking/backpacking pack that they would take on any trip. That pack is the one you'll dig out of the gear closet or garage tote and always go for. I too have my favorite backpack, but it has always seemed as if I was given the opportunity, there would be something I'd change or modify to the pack to make it even better. I recently found a new pack company based out of Massachusetts called Dandee Packs. Dandee Packs is a small, one-man ran cottage company that constructs high quality custom ultralight packs for the consumer. The owner is named.. You guessed it.. Dan (great name by the way), and he builds custom packs out of his small workshop in his home. Each pack is individually made by Dan to practically any specification and/or customization option that you can think of. My goal with Dandee Packs was to create that one UL pack that I will always reach for and lug around on the trail.

In this video, I'll unbox my custom pack and give a full review and first impression opinion of how I feel about this company and the pack itself. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that the quality of the packs is just as good as the bigger name brand pack companies out there, and I highly recommend you check out Dandee Packs for yourself.

**I am not affiliated or sponsored by Dandee Packs in anyway, and did not get paid to create this video. I'm passionate about supporting smaller companies, and believe this one deserves all the support.

Now that's an awesome pack brother! Just can't beat the weight, all those customizations, durability, and craftsmanship... wow! And all for an excellent price point too. Sure does look like Dandee Packs is WAY ahead of the game here with their (his) innovation in helping to create a pack that's tailor made for the customer. By the sounds of it, his customer service is top-notch as well. Can't beat that. I hope this new backpack serves you well on many an adventure my friend!

Looking forward to see how you like that on trail. I only use Nalgenes in the winter, like you I am not too crazy about them. I like all the outside lashings. I too am storage OCD. the more pockets the better.
Good vid "D"!

Wow, what a great concept!!! I had no idea you could get custom packs made.

What a well thought out design. It is obvious that all your years of experience went into that build. A very smart and efficient setup.

The bungee options are great. In the event they wear out, you can always replace them yourself adding years of life to the pack.

Wow, great option to choose your fabric and have multiple fabrics on the same pack!

That is pretty light weight for all its features. I have some packs that are 8 lbs. empty. 😊

You touched on hiking pole storage. I saw the images in your outro. What are your thought compared to the last pack you reviewed in your yard? If I remember correctly that pack had a storage option for your trekking poles, but once you placed the bag on the ground, the poles unseated. Does this pack solve that issue?

Looking forward to hearing an update once you have taken it on a few hikes. I would also like to hear about the sitting pad and hear how that holds up. It looks great and at $5, you can't beat that with a stick.

I checked out the web site. They seem to have a ton of color, material, and configuration options for sure. I am definitely considering get one for my day hikes, but also one for my car kit, in the event I need to go mobile.

Hope Tessa and Lolly are doing well! Was Lolly taking a nap? Hehehehehe, I was surprised not to see her!

Stay safe and be well!!!

I don't use water bladders but having one on the outside of the pack makes sense to me. One of the things I don't like about bladders is it's hard to know who much water you have left, but having it on the outside would make it far easier to check on.
