The Mars Society Presents: Red Planet Live!

A raw, off the cuff look into all things Mars. We will talk with STEM industry experts, planetary scientists, space advocates, and enthusiasts who all have a deep passion for Mars.

Ron Craig will be our host of this show on behalf of the Mars Society, and will lead and moderate tantalizing discussions with our guests as we dig into the questions and work being done in order to make the human exploration and settlement of Mars a reality.

So... Let’s Talk HUMANS TO MARS!

Episode 1: Are We Ready to Make the Trip to Mars? With special guest Dr. Robert Zubrin, President & Founder of the Mars Society!

Join Ron Craig and Dr Robert Zubrin for an `out of this world` discussion about what we need to do in order to put boots on the ground… on MARS!

Some say we are ready now… some say we are many years away… What’s the answer?

So please join us on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at 6pm PST / 7pm MST / 8pm CST / 9pm EST where we ask Dr Zubrin…

Are we ready?

Some friendly feedback for future livestreams:
1) try to even out the audio levels so one person isn’t twice as loud as other people, especially if that person is making constant noises like sniffling or clearing his throat or breathing heavily right into the mic.
2) either mute people after they’ve asked their question or ask them to not interrupt the speaker every 5 seconds with “mmm-hmm, yeah, yup, huh, mm-hmm”. I would have thought a “journalist” would know how to stay quiet while his question is being answered. It became unbearable and I had to skip that section.

I am not so sure if a martian mini starship make sense, but the best HLS (lunar starship) is a mini starship, if you bring 85 tones of dry mass starship from low lunar orbit to the moon surface and back you need 140 tons of propellant into low lunar orbit, but if you put 100 tons of payload on that starship and bring the payload only to the lunar surface you only need another 60 tons of propellant, so if your lunar lander dry mass is at half(around 40 tons) you only need 70 tons of propellant for empty starship and 60 for payload, but even that can be improved, imagine that you send two full sizes starship each with 100 tons of payload into low lunar orbit to be transferred to a lunar mini starship, in that case you only need 190 tons of propellant to land 200 tons of payload to the moon surface and launch empty lunar starship back to the low lunar orbit!

Why do I keep hearing Darth Vader breathing heavily into the mic and loudly saying "uh huh" while Zubrin is speaking at about 15:28 or 18:25 ?
Have you guys ever heard of muting yourself while the other person gives an answer? It's really hard to listen to and obnoxious.

Yes let's see the "starship" land on something other than a steel reinforced concrete pad. Same with the "reusable" boosters

Yes fix the audio.." If we can't speak between two buildings, how are we gonna get to the moon?"

With that first guest should mute that microphone so we can hear zubrin talk and not the breathing and coughing and non verbal noises of the other guy which are as loud as zubrin talking and make it difficult to hear him - almost gave up listening thankfully he is only in the first part of the video and goes away.

Terrible cette façon "ango-saxone" de parler d'un sujet important en noyant le poisson sous prétexte de tout un tas de sujets d'actualité sans importance. En France, on fait exactement pareil, maintenant, sous votre influence!
