Yes! Finally.., someone included the axle and gear ratios. I have been waiting forever for that info. I've been searching for months. I knew TFL would deliver, Andre is the Man! He drove that manual like it was a Russian tractor.

The manual transmissions been the best version for 30+ years.

The new Tacoma is a good looking truck, even better than the previous gen so u know it will sell like hot cakes!

Not a fan of a big screen TV on the dash, but glad to see they haven't killed off the manual transmission yet. This will be on my short list for sure. Thanks for sharing Andre.

14:56 Andre thanks for the shout out! I'm glad to see that they had a good downhill section to test the engine braking. Good callout on this truck not being the hybrid, which I'm sure will be helping with regen braking when descending.

Can't wait for you guys to get these trucks on the Ike Gauntlet with a camping trailer on the back.

Manual transmission no doubt is the ultimate fun factor. TRD OR manual with no front air damn is the sweet spot.

Manuals should be standard on midsize trucks. Makes it that much more enjoyable to drive. It's a requirement for me in my next vehicle purchase, just as it was earlier this year.

The stabilizer bar disconnect is a killer feature. I'll be using that a lot. I just wish you could get a manual with the more powerful hybrid.

Been watching a ton of Tacoma first drive videos and am delighted you brought the specs with the gearing on the new Tacos and how they differ between manual and auto. The higher ratio on the manual is "crawl control" for us 3 pedal fans eh? I would like to hear why they detuned the power output on the manual version, hope TFL sleuths out that detail in a later video (my suspicion is EPA but I'd love to know details).

it looks like they screwed a laptop to the dash.

In all seriousness, the engineers should've mounted to big screen television on top of the steering wheel....that way the driver wouldn't be able to see anything out the windshield. What were they thinking?

Some nice improvements over the 3rd gen. No more muffler hanging down in the middle of the belly past the frame rails, hopefully the low hanging muffler tip is a pre-production thing. Great they included some basic reservoir shocks on the TRD OR. Hopefully the quicker 4wd shifting meant they got rid of the unreliable shift actuator from the gen 2 and gen 3s. Still no 4auto option on the t-case, like most of the competition. After the expected MPG on the Landcruiser, looking forward to what the Taco will bring. It's crap that the 3rd gen got the same MPG as my v8 fullsizes in the Rockies.

Def want that manual. Wish the trail hunter trim came in it.

Love the truck but if they are going to use that screen they need to integrate it better

I have always been of the opinion that to test the capabilities of an off-road vehicle, you should not utilize the lockers unless it is 100% needed. All the obstacles you could have just turned on crawl control and eased through it.

Wish colorado would give us a manual transmission option.

Love the frame rust already starting to show itself on these press trucks.

Does the screen look ridiculously large in person? On film it just looks out of place.

But did they improve the plastic interior so it won't scratch by looking at it?

Nice review of the new Toyota Tacoma four-wheel drive pickups. Very nice. I respect you folks with TFL for providing objective and honest vehicle reviews. Thank you very much. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.
