For all those driving enthusiasts who like to actually drive their vehicles, let the car manufacturers know...we are still out there. SAVE THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION!

You are still a young mechanic Scotty. My 94 year old grandpa still changes his own oil.

It is not easy to get a manual transmission car nowadays, limited choice especially if you want a brand new car.

A standard transmission is the best theft-deterrent in the automotive industry.

I learned to drive with a 5 speed. Manual transmissions are becoming rare these days, and if you buy a new vehicle with one, it doesn't come with any of the other options you may want. Just because it has a manual transmission doesn't mean the rest of the vehicle has to be stripped-down as well. The auto makers have once again decided for us what would be best for consumers.

Bought a 09 vette with a manual. Love it when Scotty approves the car you drive

It honestly felt like I was driving for the first time all over again when I was first learning how to drive a manual. After a week you'll lock down the basics, and after a month you'll gain some finesse and shift much faster and smoother. You honestly can't go back to driving an automatic once you've mastered it.

It's a real shame that manuals are slowly becoming extinct. Yes you can argue that modern automatic transmissions have surpassed manuals in fuel economy, but manuals are much more reliable, and in the rare occasion that a manual transmission does breakdown, it's a hell of a lot cheaper to repair than an auto that broke down.

Taught both my boys how to first drive on an Acura Integra with a manual transmission. A skill that they always thanked me for.

I remember when I first joined the Marine corps fresh out of high school and you couldn't tell me nothing. I had to have the fastest cars I could afford. Then I realized, no matter how fast my car was I could only drive as fast as everyone else is. Especially after I was stationed in Germany and drove on the autobahn as fast as my car could go, help me realized in the states it was pointless if I wasn't going to the track.

All the cars i have owned are manual transmission. It actually makes you aware of how you decelerate and accelerate and how you turn and stuff.

Another +1 for a MT is ability to push start the car. I've been bailed out numerous times when the battery charge was too low to fully engage the starter.

I will drive MTs forever and it's sad how many new 'sports' cars only come in AT.
