I haven't read perfect strangers yet but just read pen pal and I think it's ending does the same thing and all the emotions. If you liked the masks but want something a little lighter the "prequel" series stardom academy is pretty good

I felt similar about Does It Hurt. The smut and eerie setting were really good, but the romance was a bit lacking and the "twist" at the end was SO obvious and made me annoyed that the characters never even considered it as a possibility and just believed the "ghost story" reasoning.

I read book 1 of the Zodiac Academy and I'm just not impressed? I hate how it ended. But I bought book 2, hoping it gets better lol
