Much like with the Broken Earth trilogy, the Inheritance Trilogy has a lot of weaving elements that don't become obvious until you see the entire trilogy as a whole. Definitely recommend continuing. I did read these first before her other works, so I went in 'order'. I can definitely understand the feeling of "Ooo these are not quite as good as Broken Earth" tho because damn, not much is xD

You've read a fair few that I've been super tempted to pick up this month! I read quite a few books but my faves were The Final Strife and All The Light We Cannot See

I read almost Romance exclusively in August - with ratings from 1 star to 4. And i did finish the woman in the library. The low reviews for that are sad.
And did start the Bone shards daughter but since it's back to school, I'll be whittling at that slowly. 🤷‍♀️

I read Among the Beasts and Briars at some point last year and gave it three stars. To be fair, I was in the middle of a reading slump that began in the spring of 2020 and I only just recently came out of, so it’s possible I just wasn’t in the right mood for it. Coincidentally, I read another Ashley Poston book in August, The Dead Romantics. It’s an adult romance that also explores grief in an interesting way and I ended up loving it.
I feel like Emily St. John Mandel just doesn’t miss. I love the way her books connect to one another. It’s subtle enough that if you haven’t read the previous books you don’t feel like you’re missing something. Of course I say that as someone who has read her other books 🤔

I have a lot of horror/weird fiction in my TBR this year. Just in time for Fall lol! You definitely made me curious about the Becky Chambers books!

Only a little science fiction and fantasy in the past two months. I read Titanic Survivor, I listened to A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, Firestarter, The Family Chao, Matrix, Stardust Thief, City of Brass was another listen, March, George Washington's Secret Six, and Everybody was so Young. I'm starting September with The Orchard by Kristen Gorcheva-Newberry, The Raft from King's Skelton Crew, and The Haunting of Ashburn House. The Haunting of Ashburn House is my least favorite so far, but wasn't terrible. Now I'm reading Mary Jane by Jessica Anya Blau and The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

I'm sad I feel like I am in such the minority because I tried the Fifth Season and just couldn't get into it (at least the audiobook) maybe I will give her another chance...maybe...lol

I am also in the middle of the Burning God right now. I am binging the whole series and I am starting to feel a bit fatigued by it. Also, I put Among the Beasts and Briars on my audiobook wishlist because it sounds like a great transition into spooky reads!

A Memory Called Empire is one that has caught my eye for awhile, but I’ve never prioritized it. I am reading Dune right now, though, and like the sort of set in space with lots of politics vibes sound similar 🤔

I’m about 60% through The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and I definitely don’t find it preachy 😂 it’s just nice
