I did some rough math, and Hurricane Milton has had one of the most rapid intensifications I have ever seen. It had an increase of over 90 mph and a pressure drop of over 80 millibars. This storm just continues to defy all models, and is extremely unpredictable. Florida is in store for at least a category three storm, or even a category four, due to Milton's restrengthening to a category five.

Milton being a relatively small storm appears to have a correlation in terms of how quickly it grew. Hurricane Otis in the Pacific was also a small storm, but became a Cat 5 in 12 hours.

Smaller storms can get organized rather quickly whereas bigger ones need more time.

Helene was my first real experience with being in the path of a hurricane and being really close to that NC Appalachian area it was so sad to see how bad the situation was. Now I'm just hoping that my family down in Florida who are on Milton's path are safe. Hopes and prayers to everyone else affected by Helene and Milton.

Great presentation. Even though Milton is predicted to weaken before landfall, it's still a beast of a hurricane. It's good to see people taking it seriously, no matter how much impact it ends up having.

Post Landfall Here, Milton hours before landfall spawned a very large and destructive tornado outbreak, several wedges were recorded at several locations in Florida, if you can I’d like to see a video on the most destructive tornadoes of that outbreak once more information is uncovered

I've lived in Florida all my life, which is only 30, but it is enough to see quite a few hurricanes. Milton might just be the most dramatic hurricane I have seen thus far. Andrew happened 2 years before I was born, but I do remember Katrina and Wilma vividly.

I was in Ida's direct path in southeast Louisiana and it was brutal. I've been through a lot of hurricanes and that was the worst for my hometown by far.

I’m in Jacksonville Florida and a LOT of people from Tampa and Orlando and everywhere in between are currently sheltering here in hotels and motels. There is no more lodging here in the city and county.

Milton recently hit as a CAT 3 hurricane, and is right now a CAT 1. It is causing tornados though.

Interesting... Didn't know the science to the gulfs geography.. neatly explained 👍🏻

Used to be most storms wound down in the gulf. Sure you had your occasional loop current monstrosity like Camille, but usually storms wound down in the gulf because of things like shear and dry air. It's northern location relative to the rest of the tropics helped keep it manageable. That all changed in 2005 and has only gotten worse since.

There’s been 8 tornado warnings today from Milton spread between multiple counties, this is getting bad 😅

It’s crazy how Milton was able to intensify so rapidly, growing to 180 mph and 897 millibars..

I'd say the Gulf of Mexico is a big part of North America's tornado problems as well.
