Queen Nefertiti of Egypt

Nefertiti was Queens at the height of the Ancient Egypt Empire’s wealth and power. She and her husband began a religious revolution and built a new capital city. And Nefertiti rose to the level of co-Pharaoh, one of the few female rulers in the empire’s history. She was also the step mother and mother in law of King Tutankhamun. But much about her life remains shrouded in mystery. Her most famous image, this pristinely preserved bust is a tantalizing glimpse at the life of one of the ancient world’s great Queens.

I make mini documentaries about women's history and royal history:

He fell in love after smelling her hair?
Whoever sold Nefertiti her perfume (or wax perfume cones) better have gotten ALL THE BUSINESS after that. 💰

No lie I’m a little sour that Germany won’t give Egypt back ITS OWN FOSSIL. Like what? It literally belongs to them?

Egyptology is such a crown jewel of archaeology. Tons of artifacts and stories that never fail to fascinate people around the world even thousand years later. Love the story of this magnificent queen of Egypt. Nefertiti is such a beauty. She could have walked down the street today and made ppl's head turn.
BTW, feel for the Egyptians though that the bust of their queen is not returned to her homeland & resting place.

as an Egyptian, I get absolutely furious to know that a lot of our historical riches are scattered around countries profiting from our history & they have the audacity to refuse to return it back home, to its rightful place of origin .😩💔

As an Egyptian I’m so happy to know that non Egyptians are equally mad that Germany has that bust. I hope they return it one day

She had a very interesting life, it sucks that most of her life was lost and forgotten, and that we don't learn about her at school. Also! I would really like a video on empresses Matilda she is also very overlooked and forgotten :)

Assuming ancient depictions are accurate Oh, she would have been A beauty . Though I personally Prefer Hatshepsut . Not for physical beauty or any such thing, but for her achievements And what she left That hasn't been completely lost

You know, for all that so much of Nefertiti's life is mysterious to us and may well never be fully known, is anyone else just blown away by the fact that we even know the NAME of a Egyptian* queen who lived three thousand years ago?

*or possibly Mitanni, I'm big on the Foreign Princess theory.

It's theorized that Nefertiti's name meant she was a foreign princess. Also thank you for this! Most ppl assume that Tut was Nefertiti's son when in fact he was a step son. Most likely he was the son of a lesser wife or one of the harem

Sucks that Germany won’t return Nefertiti’s bust to the Egyptian government

It's possible that it wasn't Nefertiti who wrote the letter to the Hittite king for help, as she still had Tutankhamun as her heir, despite being her step-son. I hear that it's most likely her daughter, Ankhesenamun, who wrote it out of desperation after her brother-husband, King Tut, died and she was forced to marry Ay, most likely her grandfather. Ew. The Hittite king did sent one of his sons to Egypt to see if this was true, but the prince died en route, possibly murdered. And conveniently, Ankhesenamun disappeared from the record of history shortly after being forced to marry Ay.

Looking forward to watching you discuss Sultan Razia, the only female empress in Indian history and possibly of the Muslim world.

11:08 that wasn't Neferiti who wrote that letter it was Tutankhamun’s widow Ankhesenamun who _disappeared_ from History afterwords

Yes ma’am! I love ancient Egypt! I studied Egyptology for like 2 years! I even practiced the religion for a while. So pretty!
