False doctrine has been around since the resurrection of Christ. This is why we need to study the Word & ask God for discernment.

The problem is who gets to decide what is a secondary issue...

Brother Todd ~ I did that very thing! Talked to the local 📚bookstore cashier (no owner, ect available) and asked why the store was filled with books from False Teachers/Preachers such as Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, and N.T. Wright....and yet not ONE single book from John MacArthur! I went in a couple more times just to see if they would do the right thing before God, but sadly they didn't, I quit going and about a yr or so later, they folded. The only thing they were good for was purchasing a Bible and church supplies. Btw...when they first opened in town, they were a very good bookstore w/solid choices, but sold out to another company that was obviously in it for the profits...not the OT prophets.

Philippians 1:15-18
Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

Let’s lift up Christ and stop attacking other brethren whose theology differs from JM’s. It is Satan’s job to attack the brethren, it is our job to lift up Christ!

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”Ephesians 2:8-9“for ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
Romans 10:13

His new perspective is that our future justification is by our faithfulness. John Piper comes down finally on the same side. This is pervasive.

He is the king of obfuscation. I have seen him layout a basic principle and say the opposite a few pages later.

I'm on the fence about John MacArthur. Some of the things he says don't sit right with me but I am not knowledgeable enough to instantly know why.

N T Wright must have forgotten about John 3:16, just for starters. Also, if I may say, all these ignorant comments I am reading, regarding John MacArthur's teachings, show how many are still drinking milk and yet have the chutzpah to comment on a man of this calibre. Perhaps when they are a little more mature🤔

McArthur needs to be called out anout his wealth for one. He won’t reveal his income from various sources. Two, his hypocrisy in that he holds other people responsible for the actions of their adult children but didn’t resign when his son settled a charge of securities fraud. He settled for paying a 375k fine. He paid his son in law far more than the market value of his responsibility at his ministry. This isn’t his money, it’s donations, not his personal piggy bank. He counseled a woman to stay with her abusive husband. The list goes on.

Where is the line between secondary issues and primary issues?

N. T. Wright believes that Jesus’ death and resurrection, contrary to what most Christians are teach and believe, did not occur primarily to save humans from their sins. Their main purpose, instead, was to initiate the redemption of all of God’s creation, including a redeemed people through whom “the creator will ultimately see the whole world to rights.” Wright contends that for Paul the apostle, Jesus’ death and resurrection did not simply provide a “supernatural” salvation that has nothing to do with God’s redemption of His creation. It is, rather, through a redeemed people that creation can be freed from its corruption and death, and that the new creation can begin. I believe that the above has merit.

However, Wright seems to downplay the intent and effect of the crucifixion as it applies to the forgiveness of our sins, and this is of some concern (even if his book is about what we are to do after we believe). Wright correctly states that because Jesus didn’t come to show us how to keep God’s Law (true, because He rather came to fulfill it), but then goes on to write that neither did He come specifically for us to go to Him for forgiveness. By saying this, Wright runs the risk of misleading people, and appears to be downplaying the plethora of Scripture which describe the wrath of God towards sinners and the dire need of the latter for a Savior. Romans 9:5 says, “Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” It was precisely due to the wrath of God upon sinners that Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the Earth (Revelation 13:8), whose atonement provides reconciliation to those whom the Father draws and gives to Jesus (John 6:44).

The whole Temple sacrificial system was based on the fact that God cannot look upon sin, and that therefore sin has to be atoned for. The animal sacrifices that were made, and which only temporarily covered sins, were harbingers of the one sacrifice of the Lamb that forever takes away the sins of those who faithe in Him. Several passages of Scripture attest to the importance of Jesus’s sacrifice as regards the forgiveness of sins and the redemption of humans. 1Peter 2:24 states, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” Ephesians 1: 7 says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” This deliverance from the wrath of God is not secondary as regards Jesus coming in the flesh, living the perfect life, and then dying on the cross as He atoned for sin.

So, while it’s true that the redemption of creation is the overall telos of God, He has none-the-less planned that this transformation will occur (at least some of it) with the participation of human beings. Therefore, the redemption of these human beings through the life and death of the Savior should not be underemphasized, but rather be a central focus. It should be correctly pointed out as to what motivates image-bearers of Christ to believe in Him. As seen in the New Testament, the Gospel call has traditionally been a call to sinner to repentance for the remittance of sins. Placing one’s faith in the finished work of Jesus the Messiah is not, and should not be presented primarily as an invitation to participate in the redemption of creation (even if the latter is also a result of God’s gracious gift of salvation), but as the forgiveness of sins and justification of the many.

I'd like to know, why JM is against Sunday school teachers that are female?! What in the world do you think most moms are doing with their children? Teaching and reading the Bible to them!! So why is it wrong for females to teach Sunday school?! My Aunt did this for years! She was not the pastor of the church, just a Sunday Bible teacher! Come on..
