An average of 2% performance gains for an extra $200-300. (Before you include having to buy 7200 DDR5) Truly Intel is killing it.

A 13900K with more power consumption? Good God what have they done.

Ah, yes, "the power of the sun... in the palm of my hand".
I'm gladly going to be waiting for the 7800X3D results from HUB and GN before I even *think* of a new platform.

What really stood out (to me) is how good that 7900 is. On launch day, no one was recommending it based on price/performance but now it looks really good.

Please do a AMD vs Intel RAM scaling in DDR5 4800 up to 7200.

Long time follower of your content!
Love your work and you guys are my main source about performance/price in PC Hardware. Keep going!

Also, hats off to not being tied to an embargo (but still respecting the other reviewers)! This feels like a better way to go if you have trusty sources :)

Just installed the 5800X3D in my system yesterday, good for years to come.

At this point you guys have become the single most important pc parts reviewers out there. Yes gn does som important testing on the hardware itself but with the sheer amount of benchmarks you guys do there is no way around your videos when choosing components.

So glad I managed to get a 7700x for £320 when AMD slashed the prices over the holidays. Can’t complain at that price, even though I know 3D versions are round the corner.

It amazes me that you guys still don't have more than a million subs, you deserve at least triple that

Intel's 'KS' SKUs basically replaces the silicon lottery, if you insist having a golden die (e.g. competitive overclockers) you can, just pay up. Probably good marketing as some reviewers will then start using the KS chip in all sorts of benchmarks, giving Intel an extra edge against a competing CPU, in this case the 7950X, which may or may not represent the very highest bin of that die.

Good review. I'll wait for the 7950x3D reviews next.

Can't imagine the heat output of a system like this. Even my 5600 and 6900 XT working together dump considerable heat into my room but the 13900ks and 4090 together must be an actual space heater.

Excellent review as per usual,
Looking forwards to your 13400f/13500 review,
Keep up the Most Excellent Work

Love to OC, and being able to buy better "binned" stuff is always exciting, but the KS variants have always been nothing more than an expensive rarity.

Huge respect to Hardware Unboxed for waiting to release their review to not screw over their fellow reviewers, once again showing you are head and shoulders above the 3 main companies you review most of the time!

So in testing the 13900KS you've done a public service in showing faster memory is a solid investment rather than the higher SKU unless you had a very specific use case. FWIW they officially announced pricing at $699 USD.

From this review, I can see that the biggest issue with the i9-13900KS is the thermal throttling. The standard K model is already thermal throttling when using the 360mm AIO. Pushing the frequency further means putting the power envelope way out of the efficiency range, hence dumping a truckload of heat. Thus, it throttles heavily and that leads to minimal performance gain.

Wonderfull reporting, really like the fact independent reviews are the only thing standing up to the industry trying to be anti consumer!

THE TIMING OF MY REACTION TO YOUR OVERVIEW OF THE SPECS LEFT ME SO BAFFLED, YOU PREDICTED MY MOVE AND ANSWERED MY QUESTION!
