Dr. Weiner presents a paper recently published comparing the safety of injecting with cannulas versus needles. This was a survey among 370 dermatologist who primarily focus on filler injections. The conclusion from the paper is that cannula injections were 77% safer than needle injections of filler. There was slightly less long term sequelae when using cannulas as well. This supports Dr. Weiner’s long-term belief that cannulas are safer than needles. There are critiques of this study and those are included as well.

Nurse Injector here and I utilize cannula more because of the lower risk of VO.

Hello Doctor, thank you very much for all your videos. What do you think, how it is possible to pierce the vein with cannula 22G-23G (even 25 G), and no one didn't realize the pain ?? Really, I tried on me one time on purpose ( to understand), and in my opinion, that should be very painful ?? Impossible not to realize.
