If you are considering watching this video, but you are discouraged by its one hour 20 minutes length, I highly recommend plunging in. Wow, what a remarkably articulate and personable teacher! I have foraminal stenosis and after over half a year of physical therapy and gabapentine to provide relief from pain, I am finally recovering the quality of life I had prior to the onset of the associated sciatic pain. At the onset of my back problems, the pain was unbearable, and I could only walk a few feet and bending over to get dressed was nearly impossible. Now in the morning I exercise on my back for about 20 minutes to loosen up and strengthen my muscles, and I then can stand up and walk with almost no pain.
I have watched many videos on lumbar pain and treatments and exercises to help, but this video is by far the best I've watched. If and when you are looking for exercises to relieve the pain and strengthen key muscles, videos by Dr. Andrea Furlan are a good place to start.

Excellent presentation. The only problem was that we couldn't hear the questions and the speaker didn't repeat the questions. All we got were answers without context.

I have spinal stenosis L5-S1and have had two spinal fusions in the past .L 543 vertebrae fused during the
first procedure and and L 341 fused during the second. Four years between the two operation.
I now have a reoccurrence of Spinal stenosis L5-S1 but considered to old for the surgery required.
I was 81 yrs old when this was decided.
Since then and I am now 88yrs old I have developed a Kyphosis and have become stooped.I find it necessary
to use a walker not being able to walk far unaided. I have pain which is now affecting my left leg and I take
Tramadol twice daily. I have also had the odd steroid injection the relief varies.
It was interesting to hear that this condition can also affect bowel and bladder symptoms of which have
become familiar and thought by me to be part of the aging process.
I am not incontinent but things have changed and I find when I need to go I need to go!
I have also since developed Osteoporosis I also have Osteoporosis Arthritis which has bee long standing .

I commiserate with anyone who has a Spinal Stenosis having suffered back pain for many years.
Thank you for your video the presentation being excellent J

I was diagnosed with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis after 3 years of chronic legs, buttocks, calves, groin and thighs, through MRI, X-Rays, CT scans. I am thankful you explained the lamaplasty with Ultra sonic tools to remove bone in spinal canal, pressing on the nerves. Thank you 😊

excellent presentation, spinal stenosis can occur secondary to disc herniation so, how can we apply exercise for stenosis in such conditions

Who set-ups this kind of price for surgeries? Is it logical if a lets lay labor man works all his life and uses his healthy back-spine and still can't pay a surgery, that would let him live for how long more?

Great information regarding spinal stenosis; wish I was there to ask his comments on the x-stop and if he has ever used it for spinal stenosis

What I observe is the opposite, Doctors are ignoring spinal stenosis a lot. All specialties get involved, for example Pain Doctor, Atrhritis Specialty, cardiologiest, EMG Doctors, ect even though MRI shows spinsl i

I have been informed I need spinal surgery but would like to know if you know of someone in the Atlanta, GA area who does this surgery. I do not think my surgeon is aware of this technology

In your opinion, can a numb foot with some slight tingling but no leg pain at all, but an aching lumbar back be caused by lateral recess stenosis. Had my said numb foot for over 12 months. My spine surgeon says it is. The S1 distribution is the cause at L5, S1. Wants to operate. Thx

Funny, he wanted to perform surgery on me within two weeks. He barely talked to me. No patient information given. The PA did all the examining. When I messaged for more questions they told me I’d have to come in again. Won’t be back to see him. May be a great surgeon but his bedside manner sucks!

Tell me honestly, why do you say nonsurgical treatments are not a cure and surgery is the real solution, whereas many as much as 95% gets better with nonsurgical treatments ???

What do they mean when they say the patient has fluid in the spine?

What happens if you are allergic to most metals. I have to sew material on inside of pants button also with wrist watch. I also had to quit wearing earring because they would get infected and pussy and would have to take out and treat this. Would the hardware cause this same thing?
