Thanks for watching. This Trimmer starts and runs but it's not getting to full speed. Luckily the fix was really easy, if you have a torch that is.

Same issue on my Stihl KM 56 yesterday. YouTubed and led me to your channel. Went over the same checklist and it turned out to be the exhaust screen, totally blocked. Didn’t even know there was screen there. About a minute both sides on my gas stove and viola, it did it. Thank you very much.

Another quality video on a common problem. Systematic approach is well appreciated. Wish all lawn equipment was this clean when received 😄. Thanks again...

Thanks! Followed your instructions to burn the carbon off the spark arrestor and worked like a charm - simple fix that had me back up and running in a few minutes. Well done!

You helped me out today! Appreciate it. My exhaust screen was carbonized. Took my needle nose and cooked it on my gas grill side burner. Put it back in it. Ran like a Stihl should!!! I owe you dinner. Here in the Show Me State.

Yep I have the hedge trimmer version of this line trimmer. Same exact engine, assembly etc. I took off the spark arrestor and ran it with it off and it was like the issue never even happened! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise my friend!

Thank you so much for posting this video. Suddenly my 14 yo Stihl trimmer would only run about half throttle. I replaced the spark plug, air filter and fuel filter. Still wouldn’t run wide open.
Found your video and checked the exhaust screen. As soon as I pulled it out of there, I knew that was the problem. Completely black and plugged up. Before today, I never knew that screen existed.
Burned it clean with a torch and about 20 minutes from start to finish it was running great again. Really appreciate your video.

I watched your video and then fixed my stihl trimmer that was struggling to run at full speed. I went directly to the screen in the muffler. It was about 80% blocked. Used your torch technique and wire brush. It now runs like new. Thanks for the great video.

I had replaced the air filter and spark plug on my Stihl FS56R and it was still sluggish. I found your video and afterward checked the exhaust screen. It was blocked with carbon. I didn't have a torch, but cleaned it with carb cleaner and a wire brush. The carb cleaner didn't do much, but the wire brush eventually got it clean. After re-installing the cleaned screen, my weed eater has its old spunk back. Thanks!

Thank you very much! My spark arrester screen was inside of the muffler outlet and the entire thing screwed out like a spark plug. Cooked it with the torch and touched it with a brass brush and it runs like new. Wasn’t previously aware of these screens, so I learned something and my machine runs like a top! Thanks again!

I had this exact problem on my Stihl FS-85 trimmer. The screen was clogged about as bad as that one was. I just decided to remove it completely. I totally understand safety, but, I don't live in an area with a high fire danger, so it's fine lol. I switched from Stihl HP Ultra oil to Opti 2 oil, and there are zero problems with the engines. I mix it at what the bottle says to mix in 5 gallons of fuel, Throw in Ethanol-free fuel, and all my 2 stroke equipment runs great! Awesome, informative video as usual! Thank you!

Thanks! I used my trimmer at half speed for long periods of time, rookie mistake. Had lost full speed on my 2 yr old trimmer, repair guys long ways away so this saved me time and learned what not to do.

I have that exact trimmer, and the spark arrestor was the problem too. Same situation was happening with my Stihl chainsaw a couple years back so I had a good idea what the problem was. Excellent video!
