Thanks for watching. Stihl equipment has great reputation but does that apply to their cheaper stuff?

This video is meant as entertainment, always practice safety.

I’m only 14 and I started working on small engine equipment. I love to work on this kind of equipment and I always take care of my equipment doesn’t matter if it’s high or low to me

I take good care of my machines. One thing you can do, and it is what I do with my 2-strokes, is run the machine monthly throughout the winter, and you shouldn't have issues come springtime. I use 100% gas with Amsoil Stabilizer and Amsoil Saber. So I don't worry about the fuel going bad over the winter.

To answer your question about caring for my equipment. I try to keep my trimmers and mower in good condition and either run them a little all year or drain out the gas. My Murray riding mower lasted 20 years. My Craftsman trimmer is about 15 years old and still runs good. But the older I get the harder it is for me to use and take care of things. But I keep trying. Thanks for the videos..

I mentioned on another video about a Homelite string trimmer my kid brought home that had a burned out cylinder... The shaft was used with an Echo GT1100 engine I had got when I purchased a bulk sale of old trimmers..
The engine bolted right on, the handle and trigger fit.
Score! Just need to get an air filter and filter cover...

A better machine all around!

Good work on the old Stihl!

Great video, thanks for the tip about the spark arrestor. Mine was jammed full and that did the trick. Some carb cleaner and a wire brush opened it up with ease and I was back in business!

I've had trimmers given to me that were 2 stroke, they work for a while. I've even took three and attempted to make one frankentrimmer put that was short lived. I just wear myself out trying to start it. I had a cordless on but burned it up on tough grass, so I bought a nearly $400 4 stroke Husqvarna and love it.

I could absolutely do a better job at taking care of my machines. That's one reason why I've tuned in to this channel, honestly. Small engine maintenance doesn't seem so daunting anymore.

You should discuss fogging the engines at the end of each season, a *must* here in Alaska for equipment that is stored over the winters.

Glad to see another one brought back to life👍
Take care if your stuff and it'll take care of you.

After each and every use I always empty the tank, purge the carb, empty that drop out too then start the machine which usually only runs for a second or two then stalls. This simple routine has kept my machines running without problems season after season.

As I've stated before, I work hard for my equipment so therefore I take very good care of my equipment. I do store them every winter indoors and with fuel. I store them with canned fuel and never had issues with them starting. My tractor and mower are store outside but they are kept in a shed and also with can fuel.

I have some really cheap machines and I treat them the same as my stihl. I take good care of my equipment, cheap or expensive I want them to last.
Alway empty the fuel tanks. As I have the tank upside-down, I press the purge bulb until all fuel leaves the carb. So avoiding running the engines lean.

It’s amazing what a metering diaphragm can do.😊
He will think he has a new machine, after you cleaned it, he’ll keep it a bit better I hope.😊

Quick question: where do you dispose of used oil? I feel like disposing of oil is the #1 reason 4 stroke small engines don't get sufficient maintenance.

Great video, I take care of my machines, you can leave fuel in your 2 cycle equipment even during storage if you're using ethanol free premix fuel in a can from the store which is what I use.

Good work. People always take the easiest route. Maybe recommend at the end of the season, empty the tank and run it till it dies. Why: Because it’s easy.
