very nice tablet! I use Xppen 22" PRO and work very cool for me! Keep going!

it's good to know that you could use it as a normal tablet as well. I find using it for sketching is very useful since I do most of my sketches on paper, and it is nice to be able to use the screen instead of the paper for sketching. Then, switching to looking at the larger screen for sculpting for a better posture.

"there is this disconection between your screen and the tablet itself, its basically like working with a mouse, after you get used to its really precise and you can basically do anything" that is the best analogy ever between a mouse and pen

18 years as a professional 3D modeler, I like the 24 xpen pro over my Wacom, inside Maya, and Zbrush.

I think it all comes down to the speed. I used to use a regular graphics tablet and it was taking almost 3 times more time to create the same quality work I get now on a screen tablet.

Nicely reviewed, being a 3D animator I was confused about buying a display tablet after watching your review now I can say spending on a display tablet is not worth. To save my wrist on mouse I cannot stress my Neck on a display tablet.
Plus that hand covering the screen is really annoying thing, because when we are drawing on paper we do not have to deal with any underlying menus but on a display tablet each time we have to remove hand to reach some menu option underneath.

I'm using Cintiq 13" for years now and that's still fun to use every time for sculpting.
XP-Pen looks pretty sweet, especially considering the price, so it's definitely worth to check out!
As a matter of the subject - I think that's absolutely down to personal preference what to use - display or a classic tablet. Neither helped me to improve on itself, unfortunately. But Mastering Sculpting course did!

Thanks, Zach. This was very helpful. I have a Deco 1 from XPPen and was considering upgrading to a display tablet for Christmas, but you've answered a lot of questions for me!

I had the same problem with that tablet, the 15'6 Pro doesn't have any hole screws to attach ergotron arms so I had to use an easel and some books to correct my posture. It's definitetly non mandatory for 3D artist but It always helps to have more monitors.

Fun fact: you can use this tablet as a regular tablet by disabling the screen.

CIntiq pro 24 here, it's interesting to work in Blender with a screen tablet, I would need some more time to get use to the workflow since I'm use to the 3 button mouse. Grease Pencil works fantastically with my Cintiq.

Great video with some good advice Zach!
Personally, I recently switched back to a comfortable medium sized Intuos tablet with bluetooth after getting frustrated with my Cintiq.
Even with the low price, these tablets have all the functionality one would need.

Good to hear a review from a pro. Thank you for sharing your experience.

PS: I notice the difference in the video color gradient compared to the Launch Pad course. I like the color value in this video here. It looks more calm and the pinkish tone makes it look more cinematic :-)

This was a really comprehensive and accurate little review!

Agree entirely with your points regarding the ergonomics, having used a Wacom Bamboo for the last couple years. Always considered getting an upgrade to an Intuos, as I love the pressure sensitivity for Blender Sculpting or brushes in Photoshop/Illustrator. Although the ergonomic issues have me thinking otherwise now. Thanks Zach!

Problem I have with working on a display tablet is that my hand gets in the way of the viewport and some of the menu items i'm trying to select..on a non display tablet my viewport is not obstructed by my hand so I can see clearly what I'm doing
