READ ME: sorry for the confusion on this video. At the time I did not know you had to go to home and touch red key before you unlocked the ability to get key fragments. The first time you go to home you use the red key from the chest next to mom’s bed. The first times I went to fight beast, tainted characters had not been discovered yet, so I already had red key and therefore key fragments unlocked

Yo, thanks a lot. I never knew you could leave a trinket inside a boss room to get cracked key. I always tried to find a cracked key and when i did i was usually already past mom fight! Huge help

some clarifications:
The event happening during the reverse world is actually called "The Ascent" where you return to home

You only need to leave a trinket in one room, for one use to unlock the tainted character you're playing as

Any teleportation item will do, as long as it gets you out of the boss room after Mom

The Polaroid, The Negative, and the Faded polaroid will work on the door

I actually brought my own fool card to the depths and did it that way. It was pretty nice to get the final ending without the use of a guide. After I got the ending and finished crying I was just like: "Wait then how do I get the tainted versions of characters I accidentally spoiled myself on 3 days after repentance came out?" I was really tempted to interact with the chest in mom's room but I ended up just going to the living room and fighting dogma.

You can also unlock the strange door with a bomb if you have the "Broken Padlock" trinket

Thank you so much man, i’ve been trying to get tainted isaac and azazel for the longest and didnt know you had to use the cracked key right outside of mom’s room. This guide helped so darn much and i cant thank you enough

Tried this and the trinket didn’t turn into the key... ended up killing dogma and the beast

(I dont know why but my trinket was the same but in mom's box was Red Key so doesnt matter) And I almost killed the beast !

So, there is a thing you havent thought about and it might freak out players that are doing home for the first time: red key pieces dont exist untill you unlock red key, so thoes who dont remember or understand that the red key allways spaws in moms chest the first time you go home and its not just for unlocking it, will probably have a brakedown :D

So yeah, I didn't realize that we didn't need to collect the knife after we beat mother for the first time. So I just repeated killing mother 3times until i realize, i just need to go to deep 2

It doesn't always take you to Gehenna it just takes you mauso 2 which can be Gehenna 2, also, the alt enemies are the tainted versions of themselves
