Nice one, never really thought about doing it over wifi. Will for sure take this idea into consideration.

Small remark though. The 169.x.x.x address you are using is the auto assigned address range in case the machine does not get ip address. Standardized network conventions dictate we should use specific addresses on private networks.

192.168.x.x with subnet 255.255.255.0
172.16.x.x up to 172.32.x.x with subnet 255.255.0.0
10.x.x.x with subnet 255.0.0.0

My advise would be to always use the 192 address range as it it most common for home use. Keep in mind that in that range the first 3 numbers must be equal as they define the network adress range, and the last number should be unique as it defines the device within the range. E.g. x-touch being 192.168.122.5 and pc/mac being 192.168.122.6 both with a mask of 255.255.255.0

There is a whole lot more about networking standards but I'm quite sure someone else has made a YouTube video about that so I won't go any deeper into the subject.

Hi. I love this controller. Is it possible to plug the controller to a laptop via usb port and then via Wi-Fi control the xair xr18?. Tks

Hi I'm a bit late, I have a PC in FOH, with X-Edit running on it, and an X32 Rack on Stage, connected wired to a router. My PC with Touchscreen (with X-Edit) controls the X32 Rack via Wifi, all works fine, no cable between FOH an stage. PC is running by an 42Ah Battery and a 12V/230V Inverter. Enough power for 8 hours, so no cable between FOH and Stage, really great. But I wish I could add the X-Touch either by ethernet or USB to my FOH Pc, to have Hardware Faders. But why isn't that possible, why can't I control the X-Edit Software with the X-Touch. This would be very helpful !! Thx, Also a great option to integrate this in the upcomming Wing Software.

QUESTION: i have 1 x touch and 4 extender, do i need a lan switch to run them on cubase ? a wifi switch work too with 4 extender ?

can you just use USB ? I don't get the wifi thing seems like another thing in my small studio, so why wifi , , thanks not bought one yet but very interested as I works well with Logic Pro
