One of the better Powerblock reviews on Youtube. Mine was a pandemic purchase and it was well worth it. I have the Sports Exp as well, but mine is grey. I can tell you the scratches are less visible on the grey ones.

Cant wait to get mine in the mail. I chose these because they have the upgrade kits, since I havent touched a weight in 2 years. Thanks for making the video

I was a young teenager when i first saw powerblocks in a hotel fitness center. I loved the concept and knew i would get a pair someday.

My first real job out of college and i bought them at Gym Source.

It was THE BEST fitness purchase i have ever made. Had them almost 20 years and sold them during the pandemic because i joined a gym(then it temporary closed. Doh). I made money off of them.

Mine were the elite 90s, which honestly is limiting for rows and bench presses, but plenty for shoulders, biceps, triceps and forearm training. For legs you have to do lunges, as squats will become more of a cardio type workout in the higher rep range in a short time.

Solid. Fast. Smart. Love em.

Looking to pick up some 125s, but I'm kinda afraid of the plastic melting or breaking down, as it is the only thing holding them together. Never had any problems from my welded elite 90s.

09:42 Can I also contact them when I had not bought them from their page but from a reseller?

Nice review. I've also own these, using them most days for 3 years. My feedback is that they feel different to normal dumbbells regards weight balance, it's like putting your hands inside a toaster. I still prefer the weight balance of the rubber hex style pre made DBs that you find in most gyms. Some additional points you failed to mention is 1: The ends are totally flat, so you can rest them on your thighs with zero pain, then kick them up to get into your starting position for bench press 2: The underside of the PB's has 2 rail handles, which provide additional unique exercises like very close grip bench presses, skull crushers, 2 handed front shoulder raises, goblet squats etc 3: You mention a con as being that they need to be on a flat surface to change the weight, however think this needed more clarification. I have a stepper bench that is flat with very small divots on the top to give the stepper grip. When I rest my PB's on that Im unable to change the weight as the pin becomes stuck. I'm forced to move the PB to a totally flat floor and then I can pull out the pin. 4: In practice I find changing the inner weights a small inconvenience so I dont do it that often. 5: They are expensive but expandable, so the initial cost doesn't need to be so high, just buy the stage 1's, see if you like them and use them, then once you improve strength buy the stage 2's, then if you improve again you have the option of the stage 3's. Overall I like them, I never drop mine, so should last a life time, however given the choice I still prefer traditional rubberised dumbbells that you find on a gym rack but of course they would become much more expensive especially for the bigger weights.

Late to this but I was able to get these up to 90 for $413 shipped off of Woot. I really glad I found this video for a full breakdown.

On Amazon they have the models you reviewed as “Powerblock EXP” rather than sport. They do sell the Sport series and those are grey. Same unit in everyway other than color.

Thanks for the review, Carter. Do you know if the Pro version also suffers from the "hard, flat surface needed when adjusting" problem? Another question, do you know if there is a solution to convert Powerblock Sport EXP to a barbell? There are only barbell accessories for Elite USA Straight Bar and Pro Series Straight Bar
from their store.

Dang, never seen the weld snap before. Happy to hear you were able to get that piece replaced and just had to pay for shipping. Awesome review!!

My USA Elites are barely scratched between the plates, I believe that the scratches are caused because the 2 side reinforcement bars are removed on the top of the core to increase the space for the wrists, bad design as it will make the setup to be not as rigid and flexible and cause scratches bewteen the plates.

Great review. I'm really struggling between choosing these or the Pro EXP for 150 more. Also I couldn't really understand why the weld broke - is it because it dropped on the floor? Or did it break first and then that's why it ended up on the floor in your video?

I've used them before. I like that they are compact and it saves space. But in my experience they do break easily. Also, maybe I was using it wrong, but the range of motion in my wrist was limited as I stacked higher. I don't recall the brand I used. Maybe it was a brand of lesser quality.
