‘Velma deserved to be cancelled’, and ‘animators deserve job security’ are two correct statements, just put them on different projects- and retrain the writers

The only reason I care is because I’ll never have to hear about it again.

I get people losing jobs sucks but people expect others to watch bad media just so people don't lose their jobs, which kinda frustrates me. Rather than blame the industry, they wanna blame others for disliking a show made from spite

Fun Fact: If you pretend that the final 10 seconds of the Halloween special didn't happen then the series literally ends with Velma descending into hell. A perfect conclusion to the show in my opinion

Few things to say:
1. Hire better writers for the TV shows
2. Acknowlegde the effort of the animators, even with really tight deadline.
3. "Velma", the "Most hated show" is cancelled. And every Scooby-Doo fan should be glad with it.

One of the worst things about this show is how its script let down its animators. The animation was so amazing, even with some little nods to scooby doo and its history, and then the writing has no respect for it and just totally drops the ball. If only the writers had put in the same amount of care and effort

There is a sentiment going around in the gaming world when we see these big games come out that cost a ton of money, but don't even reach 2K players. "Play our game or it's your fault we are losing our job" I absolutely hate this idea. No one owes them their time and money to play something they don't like or want.

Here's my thing: I HAVE seen the show, and aside from the animation, the rest of the show itself was hot garbage.

The writing was cringey, the characters were unlikeable jerks, and aside from not having the main face of the franchise in the show, it just went out of its way to hate on the fans and just be spiteful. And it hurts to see otherwise pretty solid animation go to a bad product

I hope the animators manage to get better work, they did pretty good with backgrounds, and even the hallucinogenic scenes looked cool. However, just because a show or a movie has good animation and effects, doesn't excuse the other key factors from either a bad or mediocre project

We should care about the animators, yes. But not care about this shit they were working on

Loved you mentioning how the world exists outside of internet circles. Average people do not stay up to date on content discussions, they just see what’s new on a streaming service and watch it, and tend to like it just bc it’s something interesting to fill up time. That’s the audience that these projects serve; no matter how bad they might critically be, most people don’t care and honestly barely pay attention anyway.

It definitely doesn’t help that Mindy admitted to nonconensually kissing her costar then threatening him with unemployment if he told anyone

It literally wasn't about Scooby-Doo. They should have made their own show with their own characters

I'll be honest, I'm pretty neutral on this. On one hand, I’m glad the show is gone, but on the other, I feel for the animators and artists who’ve lost their jobs. Given Hollywood's current situation, with concerns about AI replacing real talent, it says a lot about where things are headed.

As someone who is glad that Velma is over despite not seeing a single episode, I am emphatic to those who are out of the jobs.

I dont feel bad about this being "cancelled" at all if they want to be antagonistic towards their audience they deserve to fail

And nothing of value was lost (although I will admit the background art was decent, but I don't think anyone's saying the animation was the problem)

Honestly I feel like there's a healthy middle ground here, you can be glad the show is cancelled because yeah, there's a lot wrong with it from a conceptual level added with the comments by the creators, but you can still feel bad for the artists and animators and hope they can find work, especially in this case when the animation was one of the main things the show did insanely well, especially in the more horror centric moments
