Don't forget passive aggression. You inflict your will on another person long enough, their unhappiness will ooze out in subtle resistance and sabotage that will make you miserable.

You can I've seen leader who do this exact thing at work and one of two things happens. Either the workers break under the pressure and give up which either means they have no passion for their work and they don't try or they quit the job. What can also happen is people get so fed up they fight back and they do it viciously with no mercy or remorse. In my experience leading with respect is always way more effective.

This was my marriage. My ex turned out to be bipolar I with mixed episodes. I thought he was just inherently mean. To me, our children and anyone that got in his way. When I filed for divorce, he went off the deep end. He went from trying to control me in order to keep us together, to wanting to kill me. He was eventually indicted for attempted. Aggravated murder, and pled guilty to lesser charges of medicine was talking and family pressure protection. You can only make someone do what you want for so long. And then, when you turn your back, I’m going to slip away.

Over 25 years after leaving a rock star messageboard. Moving to get peace just seemed to gather more people into obliterating my ability to function as an individual. It's like dragging concrete blocks around. They don't understand a person who thrives on education. They crushed my boundaries and were actually stalking me in cars while I walked.
