I'll be honest, I only started to see how good this cutscene was the 2nd time around, and only really appreciated it fully by the 3rd or 4th time, and that's because it wraps up the subtler half of Rex's development: what his war was. Rex didn't have the equivalent of the cutscene — instead, his development was much more subtle (on this end at least — the part was more obvious). After many chapters of choosing who or what he fights for, learning new things, and reconsidering, he finally settles on his choice: He fights for _himself, _ in order to make others happy. What a way to both answer Vandham's final call and to neatly tie his development into the theme of 'finding your place in the world' that was common to so many characters.

Also, Shulk cameo.

Everyone is gawking over the Shulk cameo, when I’m appreciating the quality of the VA on all the characters, writing, and emotion here combined with the amazing use of Drifting Souls, who’s context just fits all the key lines Rex has here.

Easily my favorite scene in the game.

2:29 This part right here gave me unbelievable chills. So many amazing things going on right here. We’re watching rex, whom we’ve saw grow as a person throughout this amazing journey, truly become a selfless hero and grow up. And then the music picks up right as he throws up his sword in a beautifully deadly ray of light, and most of all... REX GAVE HIS FIRST EVER REAL SCREAM

So Shulk killing Zanza and recreating the universe but without gods is what causes the Arcitect to die, the conduit to vanish, and expansive new land to appear that isn't tied to any titan thanks to the Arcitect creating it as his last act.

This is another favorite cutscene personally as well. Mainly the soundtrack they chose and the voice cameo of Shulk which really got me in the end.

That entire conversation between Malos and Rex... GOD DAMN THAT VOICE ACTING. Malos did amazing, but he's done that for most of the game. But Rex finally became good at screaming, and boy was he good.

I feel really jealous for the people who played this game and never played the original, and will discover it through the Definitive Edition, and who will then get super hyped when hearing Shulk say that line... And then followed by *that* cutscene. In the same way that those of us who played the original Xenoblade got super hyped by those things, it's gonna be really interesting observing how that demographic of people will react to the original.

I hope they re-voice this game, this scene proves that Rex voice actor is talented. He just needs more context and now that the game is out, they can pull a better performance because of it. Its a shame that people blame the VA's when it was clearly the Voice direction's fault.
