It’s a vicious circle. The dealership is pressured over expense and profit margin-The techs are lazy and dishonest .. in fact they really have no skills..
The only thing that stops this is people like ARod and the owners that have the guts to diagnose and repair their own stuff.

Love me some A Rod honesty! Wish he was in Texas!

Unfortunately the dealers don't take care of the customer....they screw them over...no morals.. its very unfortunate...

If it drives. Get another mechanic to look at it. 15k is a very large chunk of cheddar.

They did this to my sons ‘13 F150.. took it in for a low oil pressure light.. no noise “it needs a new motor” we’ve put 10k miles on it since I had a second opinion

Just today I was the second opinion for a car. Dealer said it needed a transmission. It actually needed a wheel bearing 🙄

Could be a fuel filter. Could be a fuel Rail. It's not always the system

You’ve got to “pay for their experience” ARod! Come on man don’t you know that? 🤣🤣. Fuckinh kills me everytime I hear it. Anyone remember Ford’s training class “Before Code 11”, I think they need to bring it back, but call it “Before Shotgunning”.

Seriously the industry is just killing itself. Such a shame

This is obvious they know the problem, and profiting off fuel systems 15k a pop. We need a class action law suit and force them to fix problem, fire leadership who causing delay

I would junk or part out my truck if it was going to cost 15k to fix it. That is insane for a fuel system.

So, how do you know who to trust? Not every mechanic is you or Ray or Scotty where we can see the troubleshooting happen in real time or see the integrity on display daily.

And it was still running wow as a mechanic I would definitely say always get a second opinion
I've seen mechanics call things that were nowhere near the problem
Example a month ago we had a car in they were complaining about noise over bumps
The shop called 2 struts 2 control arms and 2 sway bar links with an alignment
They kept the estimate just under $2, 000

They were in disbelief when we gave them our estimate for 320 bucks
To replace the sway bar bushings

They approve the job the noise was gone and we now have customer for life

Just a side note watch out for the dealerships especially right now my buddy works at one of the big three as a mechanic they will actually give the mechanics 500 bucks if someone comes in for mechanical and buys a car
They don't call it a referral they actually call it a spiff bonus which is wide open for interpretation

My 2011 f250 w/190k miles CP4 went on Friday. Had my trusted shop (not dealer) come tow me in from the side of the road. He finally checked it out today, and confirmed the worse, fuel pressure was low, and the fuel filter he showed me had a bunch of metal in it. Estimated repair $13.8k

Just from your short, I can tell it needs a crankcase vent filter. That one is as big around as my ex lol!

I don't trust our local dealer or independent shops. I recently had to replace the front main seal on a friend's 2012 F-450 because the local shop installed it backwards. Thankfully they didn't use the oil slinger so it wasn't difficult to get out and replace.

Save the big dealer fee….take it to PTT… for da second opinion!

Just had the exact Situation happen to me. Fuel filter wasn’t tightened all the way and they quoted me immediately $11, 500 for a full fuel system.

Took it to another place and they pulled the sensor on the cp4 and there wasn’t a single metal shaving.

Is there anything I can do about this? I want to go drive down and yell at them but I know that won’t accomplish anything and they’ll continue to do it to other people

Wow, same thing as mine. Mine drove no issues only had a cel for a missfire
