Wal-Mart's across America have seemingly begun to ramp up their theft prevention measures by demanding receipts from customers as they exit the grocery chain, measures that some shoppers have found a waste of time, and in some cases have boarded on outright racial profiling. David Shuster breaks it down on Rebel HQ.

I haven't shopped at Walmart in 4 years, not since some old lady attacked me and ripped a vacuum out of my hands that she SAW me pay for.

The reason they are getting so much shoplifting is because they chased the decent people out with this BS.

The Walmart employee needs to be charged with false imprisonment. The store needs to be sued!

They have no right to detain a customer. If they think they lose too much in theft with self checkout...get rid of it and give people back their jobs.

Walmart has faced many lawsuits because of this

This isn't legal. Once you've bought the groceries, they are YOUR property. If they say you are required to show them the purchased groceries in your cart before you leave (without cause), it is legally no different than having to show them the contents of your purse. They are ALL your personal property!

There's an easy fix for all this: don't shop at Walmart.

"No thanks. Have a great day." Keep walking. If they assault you, defend yourself. Easy.

If I spent 328 dollars at Walmart and they did that? I'd take it all back

I quit going to Walmart a long time ago after they stopped me and my 9-year-old son leaving the store after being checked out. Wanted to look in my bag and show them the receipt. Made me feel like a criminal.

They hire more staff for "security" but will not hire them as cashiers at the register.

Instead of catching people shoplifting, Walmart simply requires customers to prove they didn't shoplift.

I bet the cashiers were stealing more than the customers.

The next time Walmart claims you shoplifted after checkout just tell them to refund all the items and leave them with the items to put away. They'll get rid of the stupid self checkout crap after it costs them more money to restock all the product.

The other day at the grocery 6 of us stood in line at the only register open. Several times she told us to use the self check out. We all said no. I spoke up and asked if it was cheaper if I did the work at the self check out
Myself? She got mad. I refuse to use them.

I try not to shop at Walmart. Their prices are high. Their help is poor. The self check out is a sham.

At my local Walmart the only choice you have to self checkout is one overworked elderly checkout lady. It’s infuriating!

I just keep walking. I've seen 5 people walk out before me and watched the guy sway through the crowd and came straight to me. Asked for my receipt I didn't even answer him. I just walked off.

What's sad is that there's more self checkout lines then there are employee cashiers

I never show my receipt. I decline and keep walking.

Walmart would probably benefit more from putting the receipt checkers on one of the 28 of 30 checkout lines that are never open.
