openSUSE - Upgrading from Leap to Tumbleweed

Let's see what happens when I swap out openSUSE Leap's zypper repos with Tumbleweed's.

I've been running Leap 15.4 since June and it's been a bumpy ride. I was hoping that upgrading to the latest stuff would fix some of the issues I've been having.

A couple post-production notes and outcome of the video:
- Lutris works now
- That weird graphical corruption in Flatpak apps is gone
- Performance is generally better than it was on Leap
- System seems to run quieter (as in the fan doesn't seem to spin up as much.. cpu scheduler?)
- I didn't upgrade the Packman repo in this video which is needed for codecs and things

Thank you for making video about opensuse Egee, it is my favorite distro. We need more people trying this amazing distro.

One of the downside of opensuse leap is the fact that some library are still stuck at 15.1 or 15.2, even though opensuse is already at version 15.4. Maybe that is one of the reason why your system have some errors.

I want to use tumbleweed more, but as a programmer I need to "froze" the library I use to make sure that nothing broke when I update because of a major change in library version, even then sometimes I need to reinstall GDAL in venv because opensuse updating GDAL. Thankfully docker, pyenv, and poetry are easy to setup in opensuse.

I tried converting leap into tumbleweed before, it is quite easy. I even able to revert back to leap easily. The only problem is that I have to remember that the command to update tumbleweed is different than leap, alot of time wasted because I forgot that i have to "upgrade" instead of "update" tumbleweed.

I appreciate the video. I use openSUSE TW and leap and Ive never done this before. Nice to see a sort of low key demonstration!

in the Peppermint video you said that you didn't use Mate because it doesn't have the features you need.

Yeah I think OpenSuse is really underrated overall, tumbleweed is like Arch minus the headache. Yast is and has always been an amazing tool. I cannot overstate how good of a gaming OS OpenSUSE can be, Im using Lutris, bottles, steam and steamVR on it and all but one of the 20+ games that are the most relevant to me right now play on Linux without issue and at very high fps, the only exception is Halflife Alyx, it runs great but I cant load mods without crashing.
