In this video, we are comparing the video quality and features of the DJI Mini 3 Pro versus the DJI Air 2S to help you decide which is the best drone for you. The DJI Air 2S is over a year old but still a favorite for many drone pilots. There is a lot to consider when choosing a drone not only the quality of photos and videos it captures but other aspects like weight, features, portability, flight time and flight speed are also important things to consider. If you are unsure if you should purchase the DJI Mini 3 Pro or the DJI Air 2S hopefully this video will help you with your decision. At the end of the day, both are excellent drones, and no matter which one you choose you will be extremely pleased.

Was struggling between the mini 3 or air 2S. Decided to go with air 2S and I’m very happy. The photo quality is just kind blowing and I have no worries when flying in windy conditions.

I prefer the air 2s. Way more detail in the video and much much better photos. And, as far as stability in wind goes, there's no comparison.

The Air2S can film in 5K which is really a big difference if you edit your own videos because it give you some room to crop in and still have 4K video output. Also, the Air2S has precision landing system that the Mini 3 does not. There's a second camera on the bottom that takes a picture of the ground that it uses to navigate return and landing in the exact spot not 3 feet away. Not really a big deal but impressive none the less. It's just more sophisticated.

As always well done! One point you may want to make folks aware of is the need to use a phone to get maps on the mini 3 RC when out in the field. Not sure that this is a big deal for most folks. I do like the mini 3 RC for it’s light weight and compact design. My Air 2S is feeling like a step child these days. Love the mini 3.

I have an Air2S and a Mini 2. I’m going to Vancouver BC next week coming from WA and I am bringing the Mini 2 to fly in Canada. I love that I don’t have to register it because of the 249 g weight. I’m also bringing the 2S To use while still in the US and use it on stops along the way. I love having the two options. I thought about selling my 2S to buy the Mini 3 but I’ll just stick with having the two drones I have now as I have options for lighter travel with the Mini 2 and Air 2s for windy and higher quality work. The Mini 2 does have more stamps on it’s travel passport because it’s so portable and doesn’t annoy people :). Great video comparison!

I think even within regulations that it’s easier to launch a Mini drone without drawing much public attention vs. a larger drone. This can be the difference of being able to get the shots that you want. The Mini 3 offers high video and image quality and will cause less public disturbance in most areas.

Awesome guide for those choosing between these two drones! I think both are doing a great job on the imaging aspect!

Awesome content as always, thanks so much! Going to stick with my Air 2S as we use it a LOT on Lake Norman, which always has wind challenges for smaller drones - especially when flown from a boat over water!

For travel the 249g weight is better as mentioned for those going to Europe or Canada and wanting to use a drone with minimum problems from the authorities.

Nice in-depth comparison Shawn! Although I truly don’t understand how both the Mini 3 and Air 2S are rated level 5 wind resistance when the Mini 3 is 249G and the Air 2S is a much sturdier 595G… It’s over double the weight!

I have had the 2S for a while now, picked up a M3 pro to see if it would compare. It for sure holds its own but I am returning it, main issues are over heating, wind resistance, and build quality. The light weight aspect just isn’t worth sacrificing performance compared to the 2S.

I was simply transferring some media from the drone to my phone by wire as I couldn’t get the quick transfer to work, it overheated indoors with the room at 75°F. Flying in Florida, the drone was warm after flight, way hot compared to the 2S, it didn’t overheat during flight but it is for sure a concern if you read some other reviews. I feel the overheating issue is worth passing up the M3P alone.

I am on the fence between these two but something I find important is the controller. Right now the DJI RC works with the Mini 3 but not the Air 2S. Of course, one could purchase the DJI RC Pro, which works with the Air 2S, but the price of it is more expensive than the Air 2S itself. I read an article a few months ago that the Smart Controller, which was an option with the Air 2S, has been discontinued. I've been holding out waiting to see if DJI updates its firmware so the DJI RC will work with the Air 2S, which I would likely jump on. Good video, thank you.

This was my dilemma. I purchased my first drone in May and I got the Mini 2. This was the first drone i have ever flown and I became hooked. So I decided to get myself an early Christmas present and I figured I would upgrade my drone. I would pick either the Air 2S or the Mini 3 Pro. I eventually decided on the Air 2S. It will arrive tomorrow and i'll update when it gets here.

Field of view is not so important when you are in the air, since in most cases you can simply take the shot from further away and then get the same framing.
The biggest problem with the Air 2S is the fact that you need a drone license for it here in Europe, as it weighs over 250g. If you don't want to do that, the only option is the Mini 3 Pro. But I think the differences in video quality are so small that most people won't notice it. A big advantage is of course the compactness: the best drone is the one you always have with you.

I've had 3 units now (dji mini 3) and each 1 has had camera blurry out of focus problems
If I can give 1 piece of info the camera qaulity on the air 2s blows the mini 3 away

This is an Amazing Review. I've been holding off for a couple years getting a drone. I think the Mini 3 Pro is the one for me. I was tempted to go with the Air 2S, because it's sensor at 1" matches my other cameras. I can DEFINITELY see a difference in detail with the Air 2S coming out on top. That said, the huge difference in prices between the two with upgraded color controllers makes the Mini 3 a no brainer, at least for me. At the time of me writing this, the Mini 3 Pro with the RC color controller is US$909. For the Air 2S and the RC1Pro color controller I'd need to pay US$700-800 more.

Great video. I have the Mini 2 and the Mavic Air, and I'm seriously considering an upgrade to the Mini 3, mostly because of the vertical filming feature.

I've been torn between these two drones. I find them to be equally great but I opted for the Mini 3 Pro to have it as a travel drone.

It's tough deciding between the 2 since performance is not too far from each other as both are impressive but budget and size preference could be the deciding factors.

The 2S definitely has better image quality, no matter what certain reviewers are trying to make you believe :) I guess it's due to the sensor size (the area of the sensor is almost 2x, just do the math), sharpness is better (I think partially due to the smaller aperture, not just the sensor), noise is lower, there is less color fringing, and D-Log will always be better than D-Cinelike. 5.7k is also a no brainer. FWIW, in my country, the 2S is now actually cheaper than the 3 Pro (799 EUR with controller). The big question is whether you can live with the higher weight and noise of the 2S.
