The Pax Romana-peace and prosperity, excluding some civil wars, great revolts and occasional wars with barbarians.

The Pax Romana was certainly not what we to—day demand of peace. Legions were busy on campaign expanding the boundaries of the empire; think Germanicus & Agricula on their 1st century campaigns, not to mention the Year of the Four Emperors which was a fully fledged Civil War with thousands of casualties; the epic campaigning of Trajan & Hadrian, and the tiring wars of the Quadi & Marcommani which sapped the energy of Marcus Aurelius. That's only the surface too.
The Pax is more potent as an idea to aspire to than an actual reality; it's also worth considering, in modern times, how the world has come to regard the so-called Pax Britaniae & Pax Americana. Hegemonies achieve peace but as whose expense and for whom?

The Marcomannic Wars started early in Marcus Aurelius' reign. Although they were not widespread, they _were_ some of the most engagements since Teutoburg Forest and really make me question the notion of Pax Romana

Septimius Severus: "And how are things in the Empire lately, Caesar?"
Marcus Aurelius: "Pretty hard, Septimius. Maintaining the sacred pax romana by fighting those barbarians and keeping the Senators happy is much more difficult than what it seems..."
Septimius Severus: "Yeah. Anyway, sure a brilliant man like you can preserve the integrity of the Empire. Also, if the pax has been maintained even with incompetent rulers like Caligula, Nero, Vitellius or Domitian, sure it will never fall, don't you think?"
Marcus Aurelius: "Yeah. Maybe the Empire can still...COMMODUS, I ALREADY TOLD YOU TO GET RID OF THAT RIDICULOUS LION COSTUME"
10-year-old Commodus: "I wAnT tO bE a GLadIAtoR lIkE HErcUles!" 🤪
Marcus Aurelius: "Sorry, Septimius. Believe me, kids can really bring out the worst in anyone..."
Septimius Severus: "Don't worry for me, Caesar. Once I am a father, I will discipline my children until turning them into the most logical and reasonable men in all Rome..."

I think the 1st century AD was one of the happiest times in human history, despite all the problems

During said Pax 27BC-180AD Rome fought with Queen Amanirenas of Kush, Arminius wiped out 3 legion, Boudicca’s Iceni revolt, a civil war & constant barbarian invasion. I always wonder why they called it Pax Romana.
