Digital Holographic Microscopy
Most living biological cells are nearly transparent to light at optical wavelengths can be imaged via the phase shifts they induce to transmitted light.
Holography is able to capture quantitative distribution of the optical path delays created by the sample.
Main Advantages of Phase Imaging by Holography:
- We can reshape the complex wave front if needed, instead of using complex optical setups, e.g. single image is needed for reconstructing the 3-D scene or we can correct aberrations.
- High sensitivity of phase measurements - subwavelength axial accuracy.

Are the interferometric phase microscopy and digital holographic microscopy the same? Which oen requires staining, I am confused?
