Professional Diver Basic Skills

Here is a video of some of our divers taking their basic dive skill evaluation that we referenced in a post this past Tuesday. Even though we have transitioned to surface supplied dive helmets, we are still required to be able to perform certain basic dive skills. We still maintain and, on occasion, use our full-face masks.
During the evaluation, the diver performs several skills, all but one while blindfolded. While demonstrating those skills, the diver is required to:
1. work through an entanglement prop.
2. remove small parts from an evidence collection tube ad assemble the threaded parts.
3. remove the buoyancy compensating device (BCD) and then put it back on.
4. flood the mask with water and then clear the mask.
5. place a victim (baby doll) in a body bag.
6. use a dive tool to cut string.
7. recover from an out-of-air emergency by removing the mask and begin breathing air from the back-up air supply, dropping the weights from the weight harness, and then ascend to the surface.
