Clear and efficient communication plays a crucial role in diver safety and teamwork. From assessing conditions to addressing emergencies, the language of hand signals is fundamental to every diver's skill set.

Traditional two-handed recreational signals can be impractical in certain situations. We advocate for the adoption of one-handed signals from entry-level training, streamlining communication and enhancing safety from the start.

Join us as we discuss the differences between recreational and technical diving communication, and why bridging the gap between the two is essential for diver safety. By embracing more efficient communication methods, we can prevent confusion, improve teamwork, and ultimately enhance the diving experience for everyone.

The more people that start adopting a common set of signals the better! Thanks for aiding this quest :))

"the tranquility of the underwater environment with its gentle currents and the soothing sound of bubbles"... spot on! Highly therapeutic as digital detox... which, as a comment under a youtube video, does not lack a certain irony

As i just became an SSI Dive Master, I could not agree more to your vision! It would be so much better to have 1 international system of hand signasl!
Again, you review the hand signals every dive during briefing, but it would be so much better, safer and easier to have 1 common system of hand signals!

I tend to look at your video's every day, and when I dive I keep practicing what I've learned from your channel! You guys are amazing!

Great Video, thanks for spreading the word! It took me multiple weeks to unlearn years of using two handed signals for the much more useful one handed ones. That's why I started teaching my students one handed signals from the start and also explained why I prefer the tech signals. Pretty much all of them agreed and a lot of certified divers still don't know that these signals exist.

Thanks for your set of videos. There is an iso standard for diving. I wish the hand signals would be part of it.

Excellent video yet again! Very interesting topic, I hope there will be another installation of this to show more complex communication. Very good!

great video! i feel like my club uses all sorts of signals. and it is not standardized between ourselves. so every time i'm paired up with someone new. they have their own set of signals. so we end up barely communicating underwater.

I've had some strange hand signal returns when asking how much gas they have left for example haha.

i wonder though. what music do you guys use in this video? its very calming and i would like to add it to my playlist

I watched another video of yours about mastering the ascent, what did the single pinky hand signal mean?

I want my buoyancy to be on your level 😢

Great video! But one issue: I almost break my fingers when forming the number three the way you do. I'd rather use the pinky to middle fingers instead. Is this a problem?

The challenge also includes who will use these hand signals… anyone got a list which organisations have adopted these?

I wandering what is the meaning while a little finger pointing up solely? 🤔 I saw that sign in your other video.
