Its always so funny when there’s an achievement thats literally “beat the tutorial” that somehow has a completion rate of 60%
Like HOW

Shoutout to Foekoe’s accent that somehow makes him saying “achievement” with a ‘K’ hidden in there right when it sounds like he will say it normally.

I personally think Isaac does achievements in some of the best ways, it encourages you to do everything the game has to offer and leave your comfort zone, while also ACTUALLY REWARDING THE PLAYER WITH IN GAME CONTENT

Grinding achievments for portal is the closest thing to masochism I have ever experienced

Achievements are one of my favorite things in the industry. Finishing a great game and realizing there’s more things to do in it can be the best feeling

My favourite thing ever is when games use achievements to enhance the experience, showing the player new things. My 2 best examples:

-In a metroidvania called Chasm, there is an achievement for beating a boss fight without getting hurt. I thought it was fun, so I tried it, and got it after restarting the fight 4 times. Then it turns out, THE GAME GIVES YOU A SPECIAL WEAPON FOR EVERY BOSS YOU MANAGE TO DEFEAT THIS WAY. That feeling of discovery was great.

-In a 2D adventure game called Wandersong, you play as a Bard, and you are trying to save the world before the Hero does it, to prove yourself. And it turns out, the achievements for that game are not for things you, the Bard, can do, but rather, they are achievements for THE HERO. They unlock as you advance in the story and see how HE is progressing, not you. It makes it feel like even the game is against you, and it is an unbelievable experience.

Nothing better then working hard on a achievement for the sake of accomplishment and just pure enjoyment.

I feel like the Stanley Parable franchise is the only game where the unachievable achievements make sense

To be fair, The Stanley Parable constantly makes fun of achievements so it technically does add to the experience the devs wanted you to have.

This brings back memories of completing a jack load of achievements to have a better gamerscore than my friends.
Good stuff.

Man, this video really describes perfectly what i feel. Like, hunting achievements in games can really add much fun to the experiencie. Multiple times they encourage you to play some levels or the whole game in a way you hadn't thought, or sometimes they are challenges to your skill as a player.

The only games that i've completed with all achievements on steam are Pizza Tower and Katana Zero, cause they don't have those grinding achievements. It really feels bad when you look a game that you really enjoy having one of those.

I appreciate your dedication with completing games, it's impressive. Good video man and greetings from Venezuela!

I remember when i played a flash game a lot of years ago called Achievement Unlocked 3, which was about an elephat in some kind of playground, and almost every single thing you did gave you an achievement, until you had to grind to get new achievements. It was a funny game that had clever jokes about the state of achievements on its age.

I love when games have a built in achievement system like hades, getting an achievement in that game gives you resources to use so there's actual incentive to do them all.

Also haven't seen it mentioned: arkham city is miserable to fully complete. A handful of achievements are tied to challenge mode, which just bloats the game an insane amount. Each stage has 3 medals to earn and there are 200+ medals for each character, and you have to replay EVERY SINGLE STAGE with all 4 characters that play almost exactly the same

As a fellow (and somewhat aspiring) achievement hunter, absolutely loved this video! probably my favorite you've ever made

Achievements are so goddamn fun. The dopamine my monkey brain gets when that little pop sound plays as I finish the most time-consuming experience of my life and the sigh of relief after it’s done is incredible. 10/10 would recommend dopamine

I always felt the binding of Isaac handled achievements the best, since each achievement earned gives you a new unlockable item to use in future runs. It gives a more tangible reason to go after 100 %.
