It's crazy to think of how many scenarios Strange had to battle through in these timelines to figure out how to move the exact set of events needed to defeat Thanos, it must have taken him hundreds if not thousands of years to figure out the exact pattern, dying millions of times. Thanos said he never once used his greatest weapon but he was wrong, in the end it was Strange that defeated him not Iron Man. He's truly a badass.

If he had told stark that he had to wield the infinity gauntlet himself and kill himself in the process, OF COURSE STARK WOULD TRY TO FIND A DIFFERENT WAY TO WIN!

That would only muddy the outcone of the battle and lead to their ultimate defeat. It had to be kept secret and unbeknownst to stark. You can't change the future, only prepare for it.

I think you can see Tony probably realises strange just told him indirectly what happens.. maybe the way its said.. idk.. but I think you can see in Tony's eyes that she kinda gathers what sorta needs to happen.
