Sir I don't understand that why we substrata 12.5mm from width while we calculating the length of transverse fillet in case of single transverse double parallel fillet weld

Nice lecture Sir, thank you.But you should have explained why did you add 12.5 in L2 and subtract 12.5 from L1.

L1 calculated As
Just used the previous concept in which you have to add 12.5mm extra in length of the weld ( weld run )for the starting and stopping of the bead . That's why the width becomes greater than the actual length weld ( calculated by design ) .
So, 12.5mm should subtract when We need to find the length of the weld for transverse fillet weld.
Hope it will clear you

To the person explaining this, ask yourself this question
"Do I really understand this topic well"

sir your teaching is excellent can you please upload problems on gear drives so that i can understand clearly, thanking you sir for explaining various problems from various complicated topics

19:17 shear must be used instead of tensile stress. Bcoz Ductile materials are used in case of welding.

Can you explain how did you calculate L1(Length of transverse fillet weld)? It's confusing.

sir I didn't get the explanation of value of l1...

Sir, how to know when to use section modulus or polar moment of inertia in a welded joints designing problem?

mathuraprasadgogoi

When we finding the strength of weld, either we need to consider filler material tensile and shear stress values or plate material tensile and shear stress values. Could you please suggest me.

please. how the value of stresses when fatigue loading are smaller than at static loading
i think we should multiply the concentrating factor not dividing on it.
also i think we we should calculate the working stresses not using ultimate stresses
but in general, thanks alot for your support

For this example, I think all weld stresses are shear stresses .no tension and shear
