Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is on trial in federal court in California, on charges of defrauding investors and patients about the now-defunct company’s blood-testing technology. She has pleaded not guilty.

The hype came first, then the application of an ineffectual practice in health care in business, then the inquiry. This drama is sad, at best.
