Elite Dangerous - AMAZING Looking New Ship - The Mandalay

FIXED version of the previous video. Frontier have revealed the next new ship for Elite Dangerous, and it is in a very different style to anything released so far. The Mandalay is Elite's next exploration spaceship.

I'd love to get a ship so large that it cannot actually dock with stations on the internal, either has to dock externally, or use a shuttle to get from the station to the ship and back. Something maybe have rudimentary repair bays, ammo storage, ect on it so it can act like a tiny version of the fleet carriers, only carrying 1 small or maybe medium pad, can only handle 1 ship, when you launch from it it becomes vulnerable and stationary, can be destroyed, but can have monstrous jump ranges and act as like a tiny mobile player outpost for like exploration

An exploration ship is a nice addition, however I really hope FDev overhaul exploration to accommodate the new ship sometime in the future. Exploration as it is, is very repetative, with a finite amount of types of planets and fauna found because of limits set by the procedural engine. You go explore, and after a few hours you start seeing similar stuff over and over. Yes, occasionally you stumble across something rare and unique but often it's same same.... It would be really cool to find abanded bases or ruins of civilisations from a distance past further out than we have already

Crossing my fingers they can keep this momentum up from here on out. I played more this year than I have since Odyssey dropped. I'm loving it all over again. Exploration is my jam so this is the update for me

Im so happy they seem to refocusing on Elite space. Might finally prompt me to get back into Elite. The tought of playing Elite is alwys nice, but after a long time not playing there is alwys the barrer to reenter, find again my Hotas, remember the key mappings, remember the game basics....

I honestly think that.... the effort they are putting in is making me rethink my departure from Elite. I think I may come back for this one; exploration was always the part of the game I enjoyed the most. Thank you for continuing to cover this game through it's trials and tribulations <3

The primary inspiration seems to be the Milano from the first two Guardians of The Galaxy movies, which as a 30yo Millennial I can definitely appreciate lol.

Every time I explore I always use a different ship from my previous "daring expedition", so this can join the Asp, DBX and Phantom in my ship rotation.

Looks nice. Love the vectored thrust nozzles and I like the stylisation of the IRL cobra's hood as fairing/canard under and around the nose and cockpit.

FDev adds 2 new ships in 6 years, reuses the whole cockpit section from another ship, and they're "On a roll." Uhmmmm... what?? How many ships has Star Citizen added- with fully modeled, unique interiors? This is still kinda lazy...

These last updates brought me back to E:D after literal years and I'm REALLY enjoying the game again. I'm glad Frontier have woken up.
