If you have been watching our channel for a year, you can probably guess our opinion of our Gator. But as it turns out, in the right circumstances away from what turned out to be worst-case-scenarios, it ain't so bad. Maybe even good! To see what we think about the Gator after a year, watch today's video. My one year review of a John Deere Gator XUV865R UTV.

Oh yeah, and we're going to show one of the many uses of the Yard Glider in this video too. Pretty slick and affordable way to transport stuff...like all sorts of stuff. You can get a discount too, see the link below!

JD is very proud of the Gators, and it shows in their ridiculous pricing. Considering the new Ford Maverick pickup base model is about $20k, $35k for a Gator is just stupid.

Thanks Court for the candid review, I think you confirmed for my property the 3 best pieces of equipment are the tractor, pickup and snowmobile:)

You might want to consider buying a NEW Japanese Mini truck: AC/heat, 6’ long hydraulic dump bed, 4 wheel drive, differential lock and a LOT less expensive than your Gator. Tim

Many are hard on the price tag I am loving your videos btw and I have just ordered an 865R with some options at 41 thousand Canadian dollars expected arrival date is in August because of the John Deere backlog. I have used a Gator for 21 years of business doing property maintenance for large properties and it is an excellent tool. This will be the last John Deere machine I ever buy new as I am 10 years or less from retirement. I don't think it is mistake but appreciate your review. I pass by many of these channels but Good Works Tractors has caught my attention. I appreciate all your attention to detail and your honesty on machines. Thank you really enjoy your channel. D.P. Great video as always. I like the th series. The 6x4 kind of old fashion that way. Anyway have a great holiday to you and the family!. Stay safe. Tim

I have a 6 seat 1000 Ranger. I love it except you can high center it real easily. Other than that it's so serviceable and adding accessories is so simple. The pulse bar is nice and there's all kinds of room under the "hood" to mount electronics controls (relays, fuse boxes, etc).

I have the original version of the Gator that I bought in 1986 or so. Four driven wheels in the back, one with motorcycle steering in the front. Hard to steer, but the handiest thing I ever bought! Still using it!

Thumbs up for the excellent editing, good music which I normally don't care for in YT videos plus the link to the Yard Glider - neat product. Lastly, I bought my wife a 2021 Can-Am Defender HD10 Limited this past August. It wasn't cheap either. It is is a lot of fun but I do worry about its long term reliability having already experience a few little issues. That said, we've taken the unit trail riding to the Badlands in Attica IN, Redbird SRA in Dugger/Linton IN and Interlake SRA in Lynnville IN. It does an amazing job on trails (inclines, mud & water (though we try to avoid both ), rough terrain, etc). Give me fun, utility and reliability and I'll give someone a check.

Firstly I love your honesty about your reviews on equipment. You could just be all about the sales blowing smoke up you know who's what! 😅 The glider is so inexpensive who could not afford to have one. How does it do on river rocks? The gator is a good product if you have a purpose for it albeit a steep price. Your new property looks awesome! Thanks for the adventure! 😊

Looks like the yard glide did a better job of clearing your trails then the rake and flail haha! Awesome channel, let’s get some hunting footage in here!

I know nothing about a Gator or other types, but I do know that you have some beautiful property and a lot of it. Thanks for sharing Courtney.

I have a 855D and love it. Yes it's abit slow but it's only a 24hp diesel. If I was to get another I'd get the 865R as I like a/c heating and being able to get out of the rain and wind. We use our gator for farming, feeding cattle grain and hay, moving cattle, fencing spot spraying, refueling, gardening tasks and visiting the neighbours. Unless it spectacularly fails we'll keep it when we do get a new one.

I have a 825i S4. With the 2 bench seats it's great with the grandkids. It's great for when I go back to my woods. Always loaded up with chainsaws, axes, chains, straps... It rides very nice. I do have a heater and in the summer time I take the doors off. I couldn't imagine being without it. Thanks for sharing.

I have an 825M. I was trying to stay consistent with fuels and drove the diesel version and immediately found what you found. I thought I had left a parking brake on! I don't need the HVAC version or plow, so I paid about half of what you paid. Also got the manual bed, and hardtop with a windshield. The gas version is a lot peppier and fun to drive. What shocked me the most (other than battery placement) was the lack of low gear in reverse. Hope it works out for you or you get a good price on resale. Best.

Courtney, we went with the Kubota diesel RTV-X1140RL and love it...here in Texas.  The diesel isn't peppy but it will go anywhere on our property. Opted not to get the cab version.  We drove some of the gas version UTV and they were fun but not a workhorse.

I have the gas 825I and it has been awesome. I am really impressed with the frame when I bought mine compared to the Polaris. With that though, the Polaris would have been the second choice. Once you get that two row, good thing you have the larger trailers to haul it. Those are huge!
When is your deer season? We are in the 9 day gun season right now in Wisconsin!
