What is a BASIX?

A BASIX or the Building Sustainability Index, confirms the rating level for specific materials that are to be used for construction of an addition, extension or new home in order to fulfil NSW Government commitments to energy efficiency and sustainability.

These include items such as:
- Lighting - fittings such as LED lighting
- Water efficiency - tapware, shower heads, rain water tanks
- Insulation - walls and ceiling
- Windows and doors - frame and glazing

The BASIX is prepared by the draftsman in conjunction with your plans and will form part of the lodgment documents required for Council lodgement.

If you have any further questions regarding the BASIX or any other part of the preconstruction and building process, please contact our team.
