Meet KeenTools 2022.2: With a new level of likeness in FaceBuilder, and MetaHuman compatibility!

This time we bring a groundbreaking improvement to FaceBuilder — now, when you drag pins, they affect nearby regions in a smart way, leaving the unrelated facial parts unchanged. With this improvement, pining becomes more detailed and 3D models resemble people from photos far better than before, increasing the variety of potential use cases for FaceBuilder.

One of them can be creating a MetaHuman out of a real person using the recent Epic Games’ Mesh to MetaHuman plugin. You can obviously use the 3D model from FaceBuilder with this plugin, and to make the union of FaceBuilder and MetaHuman even better, we added a new ‘mh’ texture map which is compatible with the texture layout of MetaHuman. It gives a way to improve the MetaHuman texture by transferring facial features such as birthmarks or scars from photos with the help of the texture generated in FaceBuilder.

In conclusion, the mix of FaceBuilder and MetaHuman is perhaps the easiest way to transfer a real person to a game engine with the highest level of likeness!

It actually works. Although I would prefer that we have a whole body besh, and can just weak the head and face alone.

Wish your software wasn't that expensive... can you maybe do an option for paying per model instead for those who only need 1 model made? 😅

it gets you there for a certain level but you still have to go in and sculpt it for a proper likeliness. Worth a try but dont ever expect these tools to do a humans job. Maybe a few more years with ai, machine learning combo. We shall see.

I have an issue when I do this and I export to unreal it shows an error that unreels says. Identify face scale is 8.967x that of an average metahuman which may indicate an issue with the input data. Please check that the input face mesh uses unit of cm and is less than 25 % away from the scale of an average metahuman face. Please help me

Hi Keen, Is it possible to catch pivots around face edges? I find software can catch up face feature such as eye, mouth but no face edges.

Cool taking the 3D bust into Metahuman. But it would be cooler if you had a Metahuman plug-in itself.

I think it will be better to fit base head to existing head model first and apply all deformation transformation. At some point it's easier to model likeness directly than using the addon, the addon might be good for minor boundary correction according to photos(which is harder to do directly).

Can we bring in our own head mesh because I already have a body mesh that I know will connect? Or does it come with a body mesh for us that will connect to the Facebuilder head geometry? Having built-in low poly, mid poly, and high poly topologies is useless if they don't fit with our body mesh. We need to be able to input a specified amount of faces, vertices, or edges to match our body so it can connect perfectly (build-in option where we punch the number in). Otherwise, it's second guessing because not every mesh has the same topology whether it be low, mid, or high poly. That's my main concern otherwise after finishing a head mesh in Facebuilder I'd need to retopologize it to fit the original body mesh.

BEWARE **** DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED! This video should be taken down! it's a scam to say that your tool can actually do a metahuman! you need an expert in both sculpting and material editing to produce a somehow decent face, not to mention your mh texture that looks like it got no business being a texture in the first place, on top of that your auto alignment doesn't even work not even if the pic was 8k and had perfect lighting and was on a green background!!! .... a waste of money and time. Scammers at best!
