As a European it’s funny to see someone so excited about a steal Beam 😂

Layout of the house looks amazing, but some things are still hilarious to see as a European. Getting excited over a single steel beam, over Chinese aluminium (presumably) windows just because they’re double glazed when it’s a legal requirement for us here, and seeing ducted HVAC when in a house like that it’s a lot more efficient to use VRV and only have thin coolant pipes going around the house.

Not dissing, you have some great ideas, it’s just weird to see how the US builds houses like they’re 1980’s Europe.. I’m waiting for the asbestos insulation 😀😀

Scorpions around new construction are just a given in the desert southwest. I'm surprised you didn't have an issue at your last place as well. You'll have them popping up here and there for YEARS. Like, 5-6 years after construction is completely done in the area and no new homes are being built. Although, if that neighbor is out there every day spraying them, it might be significantly shorter once construction isn't happening all the time in the area.

I've always wanted to know why you don't use blocks or bricks to build? Especially with so much disasters (not everywhere), is it cheaper? I mean the city are built with brick or block now why not the houses? Geez I've got so much questions.

In South Africa all of our houses, buildings or structures are built with brick or blocks and some have wooden and some use aluminum sheet houses, asbestos are illegal here though.

Oh man, those western facing windows in STG in the summer… Be sure to get some good insulating window coverings! When we built in STG I was adamant about buying a lot that allowed the vast majority of our windows/the living areas to be eastern facing.
