This techniques is used by some of the biggest pop mixers in the industry 👇🏻

Firstly, you'll need a clean vocal 🎤

Send that to a compressor 🎛️

Now what we want to do is make a parallel of the vocal...

So, we need a heavy attack & a heavy release

Now you want to blend in the amount of vocal you want from the heavily compressed vocal & the clean vocal

You'll now be hearing a clean vocal with a compressed one below it rather than a vocal that is directly compressed 👍🏻

For people second-guessing the before and after, when it’s played alone like this, it’s probably better with a little less attack like before, but when you add a bunch of sounds and instruments in, you’ll really see the blend in the after!

while serbans assistant john hanes has stated they generally dont start with parallel compression, other mixers like jaycen joshua are big fans and will often use eq to further treat the parallel signal

I’ve been using parallel compression for probably seven years and it’s undeniably awesome but like anything else
It’s find the blend for your flavor
I use it on every mix
I am at 21 number one songs worldwide right now. I have another one in the charts in Australia. It works.

This is great! If I wanted to add reverb would it be best to send it from the dry vocal channel or the compressed one? :- )
