Should You Play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity?

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the big holiday release for Nintendo Switch is finally here. With it being a Warriors game, some are turned off by the gameplay style, but are enticed by the game acting as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. So, should you play this game?

Having not played a full warriors game before, I think age of calamity was a fun experience. Definitely kept me busy for the last 3 days
I do agree that they could have touched up on the characters more by delving into their pasts or backgrounds. Like, I wish link was characterized more in the cutscenes the same way he is in the flavor text of side missions.

I'd love the play this game but my daughter wants to buy it me for Christmas so I'll just have to wait.
I wouldn't mind but she's only 10 and I gave her the money to buy it! I suppose it's the thought that counts!

I honestly never thought I'd end up liking the Dynasty Warriors gameplay as much as do now with this game. I might actually get more into the series now. It's definitely not the mindless button mashing people make it out to be. As soon as more than one comander shows up things start to get tricky.

Impa favorite enemy to kill is the frame rate.

Yes, it's really freaking fun, except for the terrible frame drops that occasionally occur and are prevalent in the 2P mode.

Yes if you love breath of the wild and musou games then get it. I'm playing the hell of it a lot right now and it's so much better than Hyrule Warriors. Also the soundtrack is really great just listen to it you will love it!

Yeah I wish the story was the original breath of the wild. I was looking forward to that and it didn’t happen :/

I think even if you're not a fan of Musou games I'd recommend giving this one a shot. This game's characters have so much more gameplay depth than your typical warriors title. So much so that some characters feel like you're playing an entirely different game. And much of the combat is also considerably deeper than a typical Musou. This honestly sets a new standard for this studio.

If you mess up 1 rune counter, say goodbye to over half of your F U C K I NG healthbar, get ready to be grinding elemental rods and spending hours perfecting your doges and parries while also getting your character to atleast 5 levels higher than the reccomended amount or else you're gonna have a bad time

I was so happy to have a pre curser to botw and was immensely disappointed when I found out it was a warriors spin off game instead of a true botw sequel or prequel.

I think I'd love this game a lot if they didn't take the cop-out of time travel, but other than that, this is a fantastic game.

I like the game, really I do, but I was promised a story where we lost. Where everyone died and there was no way to stop it. Instead we got an undo button. It feels meaningless.

it was developed with help of the Zelda team, Aonuma mentioned on the reveal that they were working very closely with Koei Tecmo, that was the main difference between this game and the other Hyrule warriors

Nice point of view, however I love it. It’s easy and fun to play. I did manage to do 1-2 chapters of the demo version, and I later purchased and downloaded the full version while playing the demo. I love the simplicity and the casualness of this game.

As a fan of Zelda and Musou spin off I'd say it's more than worth it. It's one of those types of games where I tell my self just one more stage and next thing I know that was several stages ago. Lol

BTW, playing any of the bokoblin-heavy missions on blood moon with 3 material drop food buffs can get you like 10K rupees in bokoblin guts alone, if you sell them to the Rito who sells Ancient parts. Seems that, between the parts and other rewards, running some missions can total up to 30K.
